Plug in the old monitor and then set the resolution on the graphics card to the lowest setting--Turn off the PC. Then plug in the new monitor and reboot. What brand/model monitor is it?

From Newegg:

LG L226WTX-BF Black 22" 2ms DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor

Pros: Excellent picture, great color and resolution. Do not have any light bleeding as others have reported.

Cons: Had a frustrating time getting the monitor to turn on. Had to use a lot of pressure on the pressure switch. Considering the price, I do agree with others that a DVI-D cable should be included.

instructions are pretty crap all they say is plug the dvi cable in the monitor then into your pc thats it.

Crimson Sky

well then throw it out a window, what can I say. I refuse to believe the instructions do not show where all the function buttons are. Or try pressing all the buttons like a madman on the bezel.

Please don't ask "where the bezel is".

Heh heh, good one. +rep

I'd like a nice monitor too, but the cheapo "no brand name on it anywhere" monitor I have is actually nicer and has a better refresh rate than the $280 widescreen LG my dad bought a little while ago, go figure.

Just curious but do you know what kind of panel is inside?; the panel's manufacturer.

and its only 279.99.

If that's $US...then it should cost ~£140.

It actually cost?

£244.34 inc vat

That doesn't even count delivery. You Americans (and Canadians) have it so damn lucky sometimes.

Actually, it's a ViewSonic, I misremembered the maker. I put WoW on widescreen rez earlier, and it wouldn't display the game even though it worked on the desktop. What a piece of crap. It won't even display any of the menus to change the rez... but I'ma not worry about it, it's not that major of a problem.
