Yeah if you suddenly win the Lotto and have $400 for a 12 piece aluminum frame you can easily make for $30 with a hand drill ;)

I think they jack up the prices because they know its used by the industry.

That is pretty expensive for something you have to put together yourself.
Hope it comes with titanium bolts and corners...

And a pizza. Preferrably Hawiian.

on a serious note...would Lowes or Home Depot sell aluminium?? Once I can convince my wife and get a little better at SketchUp, I really want to try my first REAL mod...

I get most of my aluminum stock from Lowes, they have a very decent selection. My Jujube home theater PC case was made from parts exclusively from Lowes ;) For hard to find stock, I love http://www.allmetalsinc.com/

You can buy one piece or a hundred, and they treat you very nicely. Prices are quite fair.

Awesome...thanks for the heads up man! I have so many ideas running wild in my head...don't really have a good workspace, the military is about to move us...AGAIN..grr. Its tough to want to do so much and not really have the time. I swear I am going to build come he!! or high water.

EDIT: So many questions......(it sucks being a n00b) so I am looking at the wesite you just linked (invaluable btw) and I am curious if there is a "standard" size to go with...or at least what is too thin. I am going to be picking up a copy of your book very soon Crimson.
