I was going to reply to progbuddy's post but it was closed.
He was trying to tell everyone about the nano-ITX boards.
We'll here's somthing you've probly not seen yet. Its the PICO-ITX board from VIA. Its a real tiny thing, 10 x 7.2cm
http://www.mini-itx.com/news/images/story0467-02.jpg
VIA presented during the CeBIT 2007 their micro motherboard for PC, measuring only 10x7.2cm, which is the exact size of a 2.5” hard disk. This nifty little motherboard has a 1GHz VIA CPU, a U533/400 DDR RAM slot, VGA, LAN, USB 2.0 and audio ports, and is available in Akihabara for only €230. Don’t expect too much out of it, but this could be an ideal solution for a small car PC or integrated into a frame.

Given a decent graphics card, if even that, I could see this thing as part of a kickass multimedia center, or even a mobile one. The possibilities are pretty much endless...
That would make an AWESOME industrial or Point of Sale(POS) machine.
That reminds me of the wall jack thin clients. A company has developed a thin client that fits inside the wall box your cable runs comes through.

That would be sweet... hell, if you had satellite internet or something you could even have it on your boat to check email and such. Run Linux on one of those suckers and you'd be all set for a web surfing machine...

kind of offtopic but kind of not....... so what are the advantages of itx mobos? besides the obvious size... i bet they're not used for gaming, would they be good enough for lets say, an office?
all i seem to use at work is word, excel, firefox, adobe acrobat, adobe PS, adobe illustrator.....think an itx mobo can handle that?

Thats cool although I have seen it before. I'll bet it is fairly expensive for the lack of power it must have or else I would be getting it for an in-car PC or a super silent computer to browse the internet with.
By the way POS in reference to cash registers stands for "Point Of Sale" I did not see anyone define that clearly.

I would take that thing and stick it in a ridculosly small case and like Ryoken said, use it as a websurfing machine. You could boot Damn Small Linux of a SM Card! :D

You can get them with a 1Ghz processor. That should run thoes programs smoothly with the exception of Photo Shop. I dont think the intergrated graphics could handel much in the way of high resolution displays. Its mainly for Car-PC's, PVR's, & media centers.
This is the smallest PICO PSU i could find:

Thats a record in and of itself.

These are the kind of computers they should have at schools, not Dells. They could have a whole lot more room on the tables for doing classwork, and hide the case somewhere so that the students can't screw around with it... hell, one of these would be nice to have just for TeamSpeak or something so that you're not using your gaming rig's resources, heh heh...
