thats wt there called molex connectors on the end of the led is a molex connetor and the end of the other connector is a male and a female molex connector

I want one where the entire wire lights up. I guess I'm gonna try out some Christmas lights today see how that pans out.

That's what EL wire is for. ;)

Not sure what you are asking but if you want to connect them basically you just plug the molex connector into an unused molex from your power supply.

The three pin connector on your fan is to connect to your motherboard or a fan controller. Basically the connector it fits into has three pins sticking out and a plastic guide on one side. (Should look like where it connects to the adaptor) The reason for a male and female connection on the molex adaptor is so it can be used as a pass through. You connect the one end to a molex from your power supply and the other end can still be used to power a CD, HD, or whatever.

Your cathode kit should have the cathode tubes, a transformer with a molex connector, and a switch. You place the tubes where ever you want in the case. These will be connected to the transformer. (Most people hide their transformer somewhere it can't be seen) The transformer should have a molex connector coming from it which you connect like the others. The should be a switch as well that you can place where ever you like. Some switches have adaptors to fit in an unused slot cover on the back.

Hope that helps.

thanks for the reply, me and my dad actually cut off the end connector of the led and put the molex conectors onto the end, so i culd use the cd drive and the led light at once, haha but the led started to melt!!!  so ive had to take it out to stop anything bad happening, this transformer or something u were saying about is that cum standard in any pc or will i have 2 buy 1? and also i looked at my psu but there are no plugs in there at all all the wire go into it so wuld i of had to open the psu and look for a plug? thanks 4 ur reply again

Whoa, you might want to hold up a bit untill I get some pics to show you what I am talking about.

First off the plugs from the PSU are at the ends of the wires sticking out of it. They are the same kind that go from your power supply to your CD and HD.

There are two different voltages that are in a standard molex power supply. One is 12 volts and the other is 5 volts. Both are too strong for LEDs and will ruin them. An LED need to have a resistor in it that will reduced the voltage to something the LED can handle. Different LEDs need different resistors. I am not an expert on this so you probably should look form more information on this throughout the forum. You LED looked premade to me so I thought that it came with the molex and resistor. I personnally haven't used any LEDs in my comuters as of yet.
One thing I suggest is taking a basic electronics class and paying attention. I took an electronics class that my high school offered, very useful. You can also try learning online however it takes a little more motivation to do so without an instructor.

As for the transformer it should come with the cathode kit and not your computer. I am assuming your cathod kit will come ready to be hooked up although I don't know for sure.

Edit: I found a picture of a cathode kit and edited it to label the parts:

The cathode tube is the light itself. The transformer is the little blue box that the wire from the cathode connects to. Keep in mind your kit may be different although most starter kits are similar for example the transformer may be a different color. Also there is a little switch, which is in this kit built into a card slot cover, I expect yours to be similar. And the molex plugs will fit onto the molex cables from your power supply.

Just ignore him dude.

Intergalacticman, you might want to read the rules concerning our policy on grammar. Just to err on the side of caution, as they say.
