well first just wanna say hi im new to these fourms and brand new to modding aswell. well i was looking on these fourms and you guys got me really inspired so i wanted to mod my computer and i thought id start out doing a window mod (meaning my frist ever time opening a computer im that noob lol :P).

but first ill tell you my plans were to just take my side panel off the computer (it easely comes off) and just cut into the it(metal) and screw in a clear (or maybe coloured?) piece of pexial behind the hole is this a good idea? then reattach it.

i thought up this idea for a window cut design (excuise my bad drawing skills but you can get the basic idea i hope)

the outside box is the whole computer and inside the jagged lines would be the hole. but i was sorta thinking this might be a bit to advanced for my frist time cutting what do you guys think?

so i had this one as a back up witch i thought coudl be a lot easyer to cut.(black bit is case white is cut out hole)

so what does some people think? ur ideas would really help me.

looks nice, you thought of maybe getting some vinyl wording inside the center piece that looks like a diamond? or instead of vinyl stencil something and paint it....

Hey dude, welcome to TBCS! Looks like a fairly simple design and a window mod is a great place to start. Once you've done that there's no going back. :)

If you need help, you know we're here!

...once the window mod is done you're going to see all the wires, might want to think about using sleeves......just an idea....

hey thanks for the input yea i wanted a fairly simple design for my frist time but i didnt want just a normal box or circle or L panel so i thought these would be a good idea.

umm im really new to this stuff so mind if i ask a few questions? what exactly do u mean by paiinting it? or the vinly? i really have no idea where to look for that stuff lol but im open to learning it, and what sorta words were you thinking if you had an idea for that?

also blk03MitsuES thanks for the idea but i also have no idea what sleeves are any one wanna help me out there? would be a big help.

also one question to any one on the mod when i finaly out out the window and want to screw the arical in whats the best method for that? i wanted to do it on the inside so i was thinking of just getting the drill out drilling in all the corners (one big pice and not cut to size) then putting a screw in each one? would this work or will i need something more, and do i need threaded holes when i drill?.

o and was thinking of scerwing it on thr inside and then would the cuts on the panel be a problem? like to sharp or any thing (was gonna file/sand it down)

vinyl as in the car sticker you might see around. mall's usually got a sticker vendor that can pretty much make anydesign and cut it out of vinyl. as for painting, i ment something like, taping the window then cuting out a design then painting it. that was another option if you didnt want or couldn't get a vinyl design.

and this is what i was talking about

its used for many reasons, mainly for looks. to get all your wires to match your color scheme. the other big one is to keep the wires neat so that there is better airflow.

hmmm thanks ill look into those cables sleves are they easy to install but? cause ive never messed aroudn with the inside of my computer before and dont wanan do something real hard and end up ****ing it up and do they light up like el cables? case i was gonan put leds in my computer later on thats why im installing a window so i can see them. but thank you a lot for your help, do you know about the screws i was talkign ab out before?

o and i still dont quite get what ur saying about the painting cause if i cover the window then wont the paint not show up on it? and did u or any one that reads this have any idea on design of words/log/picture? but thanks a lot for ur help.

ok well today i got all the stuff i needed i got a derel (well differnt brand but same thing as a derel) and everything cept i coudlnt find those cable sleves and i went to like 5 stores they all only said we have srink wrap.

but i came up with a new idea that i think would be really cool so here it is, cutting out the window as a shape of a spider like pretty simple there and then on the pelxi etching a big wobweb then lighting it up i reaken it would look awsome the only thing is cant find a simple spider design can any one help me out here? i dont really want to many curves.

I'd recommend drawing in pencil till you're happy, then going over it with a marker pen or something to make a clear cut line. Then, cut away. :)

This one looks preddy good to me. Take some measurements. Mark out the area you need to cut. Drill a big hole in the case near where you plan to start cutting.

Cut it out with a Jigsaw. File down any areas you goofed on and slap some plexi glass behind it.

This is more my style:

Since its your first time ever Opening a computer case!
Do Not take anything out while the computer is plugged in Especially the RAM!

S A F E T Y! First!
I dont know how old you are but if your not atleast 16 Get parental supervision and/or help before modding anything.

thanks eck whered u think of that idea? looks pretty cool.

as for drilling a big hole is the nessercy? cause i was just gonan use my dremel to cut it and i dont have a big drill attachment.

yea im not dumb to be playing around the insides of computers while its on.

btw eck did you use to playut2004? or is that a differnt eck.

I played it for a month looong time ago waiting on the new UT
Maybee a different eck.

I go by: KlƹƹN SŋƹaKɀ when gaming. .

No you dont have to drill a hole if your using a dremel, its just going to take longer.
