Alright lets get this party started...

I plan 2 finish is mod in the matter of months mainly because of the all mighty dollar =] I am a highschool student [job less] planing 2 go 2 college so guess where all my money is going...

here is a pic of the case i will be workin on.

**the pics are from my cellphone. they take pretty decent pictures thing is you have to have really good lighting.**

from the side...
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00175.jpg

from the back. oh yea...
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00176.jpg

here is the left side of the case which will feature a window. still workin on the edges to make em nice n sharp ^_^
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00177.jpg

here is a view from the front. i removed the front bottom plate and cut a huge hole and placed MNPCTECH modders mesh behind it. then i bondo-ed the area to create a continuous valley. Still dont done with the front, lots more sanding ahead. when im satisfied i will hit it w/ flexible primer then on come the coats of paint.

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00178.jpg

at a closer angle...
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00179.jpg

here is a little piece of custom made hardware that will be fitted inside the case... it was inspired by Bill Owen's Psychosis. This piece of the mod will feature a..........

gutted CD-ROM!

stay tunned for updates.
all comments and feedback is appreciated =]

UPDATE 2
alright the idea is 2 use the old CD tray as a retacting tray that will be bolted to the old CD board. The motor from the RC car will replace the old CD-ROM motor because the new motor can push and pull the needed weight. The CD board will have switches and LEDs for the fans. I am going to mount the switches and LEDs by drilling a hole right on the board then wiring them from the back. I will be using the circuit below to control the fans.

srry >_<

This ciruit was from virtual-hideout.net and was featured in one of their tutorials. I am debating weather or not to throw in a couple push switches for WinAmp control while im playin a fullscreen game .

Here is a pic of the tray after cutting. I had 2 cut off a section because the motor's spindle was hitting the bottom of the tray.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00187.jpg

Here is a picture of the RC circut board.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00193.jpg
I soldered a molex connector and a on/off switch to the board. The board pulls exactly 12V, lucky me ^_^.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00195.jpg

The board is controlled by this. It powed w/ a battery
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00194.jpg

Im debating wether to keep it wireless like it is or to mount the controller on the case. If i mount it will definetly cut parts out that i dont need. Also if i mount the controller im think i should rig it up 2 pull power from the PSU like the board.

as always comments and feedback is greatly appreciated...

-elbarto241
UPDATE 3
as i was typin this updade, my order from allelectronics came in. =]
3 ultra bright LEDs, 3 bright green LEDs, and 2 DPDT switches...
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00197.jpg
hmm i thought i ordered 3 then looked at the invoice and it was 2, crap gotta go 2 radioshack and buy their overprices crap now=/

anyway here is a quick sketch of the control panel mounted on top of the case.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/scan.jpg
It vividly shows and Front and Side view of the control panel open. The case will look normal when the panel is closed and inside the case.

im also considering mounting the control panel so it appears from the side, then slides back in [left to right].

other good news, i found the neccessary bolts and nut 2 mount the board onto the CD-ROM tray. just need 2 sand off a lil rust on some bolts then drill the holes. Im thinkin of painting the tray so it doesnt stand out from the black and green color scheme.

i might go 2 walmart today or tomorrow to buy some model tank kits and stuff to go kit-bashing. kit parts will be used all over the case as a design. more hints on that later, for now this is it. =]

UPDATE 4
AHhhhhh! gotta finshes this part before the sun comes down!
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00207.jpg
LoL

alright, here is the CD-ROm tray w/ the holes already drilled for the bolts that will connect it 2 the controller board.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00200.jpg

Holes also drilled onto the controller board. Lets mount this puppy and see how she looks! :D the bolts are equipped with a spacer between the tray and the board so it has efficent space for the wires coming from the LEDs and switches.

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00203.jpg

a look from the side....
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00205.jpg

from the back.....
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00206.jpg
eeeeehhh. ignore tat rusted bolt :D wont be rusted when mounted on case =]

and from the top.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00204.jpg

tomorrow i will cut off the excess bolt w/ a angle grinder. the tray wont fit into the gear compartment if i dont.

and i decided to primer the spacers so it wont stand out as much.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00209.jpg

again, comments and input is welcomed here
UPDATE 5
oh yea and i dumped the design of the skull w/ flames. changed my mind, i was feeling skully that evening. thank God i didnt cut anything....

I ordered 2 heavy duty case handles and 4wheels for the case.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00215.jpg
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00217.jpg

the handles have a spring built in that represses the handle itself when its not being used, a really handy feature [no pun intended]
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00216.jpg

the handles will dig into the case just a lil, no enough to make a disturbance....
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00213.jpg

I also bought a 10 piece filing set. We all know what tats for...
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00212.jpg

UPDATE 7
yesterday UPS dropped off my package while i was drilling the holes for the handles on the case. I still have 2 go 2 the hardware store and buy bolts for it.
I only got a couple of holes done before the drill bits didnt drill anymore. They were pretty old... my dad took em 2 work so he could sharpen the tips.

ACryan UV acrylic and UV LEDs w/ resistors for 12V.

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00244.jpg

I think imma need more MNPCTECH mesh.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00243.jpg
I'll see how many parts i can get done with this amount of mesh then probably order some more.

I`m planning to upload a scanned image of the wheel covers later on 2day so stay tunned. ..

elbarto241
UPDATE 8
Here is a pic of the design of the wheel base. the entire thing would fit in my scanner bed so i decieded 2 take a quick picture.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00247.jpg
The squiggly lines are parts that are going 2 be cut out. The dotted lines are bending lines. The small + are holes for screws and rivets. THe two octagons is the space provided so the wheels can rotate with out hitting anythig.

Here is a sketchup of how the wheel covers are going to look from the side and bottom when attached to the case.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/sketch01.jpg
I started working on the mesh covers for the pieces of acrylic.

I used the combination of snips and bocks of wood clamped down to cut out the mesh.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00248.jpg

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00249.jpg

2 long pieces......
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00250.jpg

equals 4 perfect pieces =p
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00251.jpg

Some pieces of the mesh warped a lil when it was being cut. But 2 blocks of wood, a clamp, and a hammer took care of that..
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00253.jpg

I also got started on the acrylic itself....
one rectangle...
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00254.jpg

some cutting....
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00256.jpg

walla! we have a perfect cut piece of UV acrylic.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00257.jpg

NOw for the sanding...
made a really quick sanding block out of wood...
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00258.jpg

FROSTED!
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00260.jpg
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00261.jpg

Acrylic + Mesh = piece of art
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00262.jpg

WHO TURNED OFF THE LIGHTS! >_<

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00264.jpg

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00265.jpg

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/elbarto241/DSC00266.jpg

Im getting my moneys worth out of thoses UV LEDs...

Still need 2 go 2 the hardware store for aluminum and bolts.. im thinking thats gonna happen 2morrow. Im also considering buying stronger sandpaper to frost the acrylic even more. And im still deciding what position to place the LEDs behind the acrylic.

again these are going 2 placed on the side. 2 on each side and one long one in to front.

comments, advice, and everything else is welcomed and appreciated.

Welcome to the forums

I love your work so far.

The lift up control panel is such a great idea it just blows my mind. *Must resist urge to steal idea* *twitch*

Anyway I am so jealous of your tap and die set. Did it cost $$$ alot?

Also I love your pencil diagrams. You seem to have planned this mod well and know what works and what doesn't.

+rep.

Edit: Neat front panel work to.

@progbuddy, jdbnsn
THankz for your comments. I dunno if i mentioned this before but the control panel was an inspiration from Bill Owen's Psychosis.

@xRyokenx
yea ive just been commenting on cases and absorbing all the creative mods. This is my first major mod overall.

@commando
Yea ive seen alot of cases with UV, outstanding if you use it right, case killer if you use it wrong =[

@rincewind
yea those are really good handles. heavy duty and doesnt suppress much into the case.

Alright back to the case..
Here is a video of the motor that will move the control panel. In the vid the, the motor is simply going forward and backward. Yea i know its badquaility and looks like poop but ehh wada expect from a camera phone! =D

cant really see the spindle moviing but trust me its moving!

About that modders mesh, do you like it? And is it worth the price? Becuase I'm fairly sure I could get it for much cheaper at a regular hardware store so is there any reason to get it from mnpctech? Thanks

me and my friend spent a lil time on the front bezel. we really cleaned up the lines and filled in spots. You know the drill..... there are still a small amount of craters that still need filling in. We sprayed a lil paint just to show the dept of the curves. At the end this will all be black.
