Several months ago, when I was talking to my wife about building my pc, my wife asked if I'd build her one. Initially, she wasn't sure what theme she wanted, so the idea was shelved for a little while (money being a factor too, jeez these things are expensive). Since then, we had an idea for a Pirates of the Carribean themed computer. We are both English majors, and recently I had the chance to introduce her to an old favorite of mine. H.P. Lovecraft, so after some discussion and a little snooping online. We've settled on a Cthulhu themed computer case.

If you haven't read any of these stories, I highly recomend it. At any rate, I'll have some sketches together soon and post them here, then I'm going to start getting an idea of what materials I'm going to need. I'm thinking of possibly making a cthulhu face covering the front or side, possibly having it on the side with tentacles weaving down over a window. But we'll see.

Sounds like a superb idea for a Case mod!

Do you plan on Posting a work log?

Yes, I'll have a pretty extensive work log. I'm going to wait till we're moved into our new place before I really get to work on this, but meanwhile I'll be researching, sketching etc. And picking out a case of course.

you should consider mounting the "classic chthulu" head above the cd-drive... maybe his tentacles made of LED strands or something... glowing red eyes and all. maybe stick some of the infamous (but to some of my reading, unseen) runes on the fan blades (like the 44mm fan mod)... oooooh, or the chthulu chant!... haha... ive only read a few books, but lovecraft is pretty f***ing cool man. not too fond of all the guys who wrote after he passed on though.

Ok, so we've moved. And I've been working on my baby (1968 Ford Fairlane 500) so I've been kinda lax about the computer mods. My wife's decided she doesn't want the Cthulhu thing, or rather she doesn't know what the hell she wants. But I have a second PC at my desk right now that I think will do just fine for the Idol from The Call of Cthulhu.
