Thought we might need one of these threads :).
Currently running:
-HD SoundMax Quadraphonic drivers
Setup:
-JVC 520 watt HX-GX7 component system (2 180 watt tube subwoofers, 4 40 watt main speakers, 2 tweeters)
-modified Harman/Kardon PC speakers
The subwoofers hit every note on Ultimate Bass Challenge Bass Tester. I made the wood in the TV cabinet 10 feet away resonate :p.

Are there any benchmarks or something to test how good one's sound card/on-board sound and speakers are? Something like 3DMark or FRAPS, but for sound. Or is the only thing to use is one's own ears? Because I've pretty much listened to laptop speakers all my life, so anything sounds good.
By the way, I now have the Creative ProGamer G500 5.1 running off the onboard sound of my EVGA 680i motherboard. Not sure what kind of sound chip is on my motherboard. I see terms like Intel HDA Azalia pop up when I looked, but I don't that is the answer I'm looking for.

I'm using the integrated 8-channel sound on my motherboard. And in my stereo system, there's a car audio tape that you can plug into a CD player that's plugged into my computer. I hit Play Tape A, and voila; audio. lol how ghetto-rigged is that?

My XBox360 is run to the Logitech system via optical SPDIF and sounds incredible, better than the soundcard in my PC by far.
