Just picked this up today, pretty damn cool! What's with the throwing bolts into anomilies?

I got it about a week ago, im very pleased with it. though i have had issues with it crashing on me while going to the main menu(lost a lot of play time >.< ).

as for the bolts, i think its so you can tell the size on the anomilies, though i havent found much use for them. usually, if i need to get close to one i just go reeealy slow until i get the item or whatever i was after.
