Hello all, I'm a new member of you beloved site here. The other night I was browsing youtube and stumbled accross the Doom 3 mod and I was dumbfounded at the time and skill that was put into the case and I eventually made my way into the forums.. I built my first gaming rig this past december, I had a small idea what I was doing and had everything up and running in no time. As my knowledge of computing has advance some bit, I love what you all do here, it's amazing to me how you can bring an idea to life in just a couple weeks/months. So, I want to get into modding and hopefully this site will show me the works. With a little influence and some time, I hope to be doing it here in the coming weeks. But, before I jump the gun, I was just curious what are the main tools that you guys used to start out when you started to mod?
Also, one great thing about the PC community is that almost everyone is willing to lend a hand when ever they can, this seems like one of those sites. :)

First you need to sketch out your plan then you'll have a better idea of what tools you'll need. If you haven't downloaded it yet I would get Google SketchUp program, it's free and very usefull. As far as actual tools I could if you use the search feature at the top on the page you'll be able to find some tools of trade threads which will propably have a better list then I could come up with in a few minutes.
Oh yeah, welcome to TBCS.

Welcome!
As far as my main tools go, I mostly use my Dremel, my Jigsaw, and, um, I guess that's it. Soldering iron/gun is nice to have for electronics, spray paint is good for covering large areas, airbrushes are good for fine detail (something I'm just starting to try... or as soon as mine arrives), um, screwdrivers, hot glue gun, and I guess that's all I can think of. As soon as the need for something arrives, it will come to you.
Happy modding man!
WELCOME TO TBCS!
*ahhemm* Now,
My tools:
to start off:
Graph paper and a pencil
To build:
Dremel, Jigsaw, Vise, Drill Press, Scroll Saw, Hobby knife, and many more.
You can really use anything. I suggest checking out some of the guides around the forums here. To get some ideas about designing and a general overview of materials check out the guides in my sig. For more specific guides on materials and techniques pop your head in the "Tips and Tricks" (http://thebestcasescenario.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=38) part of the forum. Thats about it, if you have any more questions feel free to post them. We're all here to help.

Welcome Dude,
I think mostly everyone here knows my favorite wicked modding instrument.
Good luck. Ask questions, but good questions....
