My brother just found this (http://www.amtonline.com/article/article.jsp?siteSection=1&id=3913) on the Wii news channel. This is one old guy you do not want to mess with!

these stories amaze me, the human body can be so delicate or so robust...

This (http://www.bbc.co.uk/jersey/content/articles/2006/12/20/michael_holmes_fall_feature.shtml) story blew my mind as does your find :)

Sorry, i dont see why "i wouldnt want to mess with him". He did nothing heroic or brave. All he did was bail out of a glider and survived. He's 80 years old, he just extended his life by another 6 months. Heart warming at the most.

No, he baled out a Glider a few seconds before a mid-air collision (which killed his 64 year old friend and their instructor), parachuted to the top of a snow covered mountain, where he survived by trecking to the wreckege and building a shelter.

I think most of us would have a hard time doing that, and this guy's 80. I think you're downplaying it a little bit. He's obviously a pretty tough guy.

Great attitude dude. Can feel the respect flowing.

He's 80 years old, he just extended his life by another 6 months. Heart warming at the most. Isn't 80 young now days, people live to 90-100 unlike the olden days. Plus 6months is better than nothing don't ya think? It isn't like a 30 year old doing this its an 80 year old which is quite amazing. Not being rude to you or anything just saying my mind.

Cheers

80 is a fair number, that man has had his glory days. There arent many who live to see 90. And personally, i'd be more than happy to make it to 60.

It truly is a heart warming story, i just find it to be that and nothing more.

If i had to show the utmost care and compassion for every single "horrendious ordeal" i heard about during the day, i'd be exhausted before breakfast. I meant no disrespect to anyone here.

I was just impressed. It shows a lot of finesse for an 80 year old guy, that's my point.

Up until he contracted ALS, My SO's grandfather was still pretty active and he was 86. He got his first hole in one at some course on Long Island at 81...

Hell, My Father In Law could handily beat my ass in racquetball, Free dive deeper than me, probably lift more weight than me, then kick my ass for good measure and he is 66... He looks barely a day over 50 (except that shiny spot on top of his head...) But hey he IS Sicilian... ;)

Just the fact that that guy was up in a glider at 80 is impressive, never mind he had his wits to bail out on time, pull his ripcord and then not die on the way down...

Yeah Cana, I do see your point. Although the closer I get to 60, the more I am looking forward to living to 80.
