I'm still not impressed with where the series has gone. Halo 2 was a let down. The multiplayer was overhyped by far. Hopefully they will bring back some TRUE classic maps, not the cheap remakes that completely change the gameplay.

Whatever, while all the 360 owners are playing the halo 3 beta, I'll be fragging up Halo 2 Vista...w00t for PC gamers ;).

Nice! Looks awesome!

How'd you do the "Reyer" in the beginning? After Effects?

Edit: Aero, you are my hero. I had nearly the exact same thing posted, but I deleted it thinking I might get some "OMG N00b h4l0 wi11 ki11 j00" or something. It's good, but Halo 2 was a let down. Halo 3 (from what I've seen) does look like a step in the right direction though.

You werent impressed??
Thats like a stab in my heart.

Its true that halo 2 is way different than regular. Its more about teamwork and stuff, but i still love it to death.

In my opinion halo 2 is the most solid game out there, there is no other game with such a good physics engine except maybe half life. But the great thing about it is you can always learn something new, every day some one finds a new super jump or some cool trick or tactical jump.

I dunno, i just cant wait:D

Yeah I do, did you get an After Effects tut from online, or a book? I can't seem to find any, and I'd like to try it out.

That VideoCopilot link isn't what you thought it was...;). Needs a .net, not .com.

See, I played Halo:PC religously. Won the TWL championship with my clan ~Hoss. Followed every update from Bungie, even tracked down almost every piece of "leaked" Halo 2 footage before it came out. Hell, I've got a MC suit made from insulation foam, paper mache, and card board in my basement. But Halo 2 just wasn't right for me. Iroincally I didn't like it because it required little team work. It seemed too easy to score in coagulation with the rocks guarding the teleporters and new base design. The skill required to kill a sniper on the hill the instant you came out of the teleporter with 2 shots was gone.

And it also seems that the reason you liked it was why I hated it:lick: I couldn't stand all the glitches and super jumps. They were annoying. A glitch is a whole in the games code that doesn't behave the way it should, those should have been cleaned up in beta testing.

Looks disappointing.

Although that force field bubble thing looked pretty cool. Let's hope that isn't the only thing Halo 3 multiplayer has to offer. Otherwise... well I'll still buy it but I was kind of hoping for something with a little more "WOW!" effect.

Yeah I completely understand where your coming from.

Thats what i first thought when i started playing halo 2 on live. i just was angry at all the stupid stuff, but after about 20 2 month frees and thousands of games later, i still have fun each time i start up a mlg game at lockout.

The game for some reason just doesn't get old for me. But if i play some kind of war game like socom or battlefield, after i play one map for a while, i get really bored.

Once i got into the higher ranks of people, who actually knew how to play, it just stepped the fun to a whole new level. Now when i play no one even super jumps or cheats, its all just legit fun.

And i was one of thoes kids who did mod and cheat, but i never did it to win, it was purely for fun.

I will live with halo for the rest of my life and i will dye in a master chief costume in a coffin made out of halo disks

agreed. I've already got 2 copies of every version made. Turns out that they changed the disk art many times:p

i dont understand why so many people were disappointed with halo 2? Maybe i don't understand because i came in to it rather late. I think the multiplayer seems pretty similar to be honest. What changed so much about it other than dual wielding and a different pistol. Maybe someone can clear it up for me.

As far as Campaign mode it was just as good as the first game.

To be completely honest, besides the dual wielding like you said ant the other weapons, i dont know what the difference between the two are. Halo 2 just has a completely different feel.

ha, you were probably one of my sworn enemies at one point then. i was in the [ss] clan for a while and remained associated with them until halo 2 came out.

you know why i think halo 2 was vastly different? the controllers. with a mouse and keyboard you can snap-turn a 180 instantly. you cant do that on an xbox. for one thing that sort of slows your reaction time, and for another, that limits your observing abilities. its much easier to sneak up on someone playing on an xbox than on pc. i just find that you're more likely to overlook something... or someone.

Does anyone on here still play Halo PC? It would be cool to get a TBCS game going. I haven't played much on the PC since i got my 360. But id be willing to play if someone wanted to organize a game.

Wow... just got up, and saw this thread.
I'm headed out the door, don't have time to look at the videos.

But, w00t w00t! Halo3!!!

I have a Frag-Joy adapter for the xBox, which lets me connect a PS2 mouse and a keyboard to the controller port, and play with that.
Even with everything maxed out, MC still takes a while to turn a full 360.
Or to look from the sky to the floor.

Anyways, will post soon. :D

w00t w00t Halo3!!!!

2 was hyped way way too much... it's like the second Matrix movie, it sucked, but it ties the first and third together. I wish it had gone in the direction the books had, that would've been sweet. Coagulation is an annoying map, as similar as it is to Blood Gulch, it isn't the same... the sniping from one base to the other is annoying...

EDIT: Oh, and the music from that video has got to go, lol.

I still play every so often. Hit me up on AIM sometime. I believe my clans server just got put back up. It should be called something like

"! ~Hoss Clan Tavern"

Dammit. Why won't they release a beta version for people that don't buy Crackdown?

Because then crackdown wouldn't sell and the money machine would stop turning.

At least in theory...

Im not saying that this looks bad because there is some awesome detail in the map and whatnot but if you go back to the release trailer and watch it and listen to the commentaries or read the quotes were bungie is quoted as saying that the detail seen in the release trailer is what they are shooting for does anyone else think that this just isn't quite THAT nice. I mean it still looks great but when you look at some things, like the weapons, a lot of it seems the same as halo 2. I loaded up h2 and pulled out a battle rifle and it looked pretty much the same as far as i could tell. I know its just beta and it will probably get alot better i was just throwing the comment out there.

RE: Halo3...

Wow... I'm up for it.

I'll give you guys my take on it.
Halo1 time-frame --- I didn't have an xBox.
We played a LOT at my friend's house... although, it wasn't online.

Halo2 time-frame --- That day in November that Halo2 came out, I went straight to the store, bought Halo2, bought a xBox, two extra MS controllers, and off we went.
To be honest, I think the "campaign" of Halo is about 10% of the game.
I play online in xLive constantly.
I never play the campaign. I don't care much for it.

To me, Halo2 online, is da ****.
Yes, there are modders/cheaters once in a while. But that's just like morons on the road, they'll always be there. Minor annoyances.

I hover around the 30ish level in Halo2, and constantly play Team Slayer. That's my thing.

Halo3 looks kick-ass!!!
You can clearly see in the videos they're still working out lots of stuff.
The movements are "fidgetty".
There are movements "missing" (bending down to pick-up weapons, etc.).

So, I'm sure all these things will get worked out before the release.

I remember when the double-wielding came out, almost everyone was complaining that it was just a SMG-fest between two guys and that was that.
Yeah, right.
Until somebody sticks a plasma on your left temple.
Until a frag bounces 6 feet away from you then EXPLODES 2 inches away from your head.
Until you come up to a guy with a shotgun and he snipes your brains out without the scope at less than 12 inches.
Double wield all you want, but that Battle Rifle WILL take you down.

I'm all in support of Halo2, and looking forward to Halo3.

Aaaa... Ahaaahhhhhhhh... AAAAaaaaaaa AAaaa AAAAAAAAAAA.....
((^^ poor impression of the Halo monks singing))

I never got into the halo games...
Firstly, the idea of FPS with a controller makes me want to cry.

Secondly, the maps looked like they had made them out of lego.

Halo 2 was rushed. They could have made it WAY more graphicly pleasing.

Um, I just spent the last 15 minutes reading Bungie updates for Halo instead of working.

And... well, I say, we go over to Bungie headquarters, and by use of force (weapons, grenades, flame throwers, hurling vehicles, bats, chains, etc), we wrestle the latest Halo3 version from their hands.
It can't be that hard... besides, they're originally Mac lovers. Pansies.
