Stay tuned! I am finalizing all the details for this next competition and will have something specific posted by the end of the week!

Yeah! I'm stoked for this. Hey, offtopic, what's the scoop on the cluster tut? More to come? :D

Cluster Tutorial is on. I had to wait for the Boss to get back from Iran (His vacation), so I would have time and space to work on it. I have almost everything out of the way and am doing a dry run today to test it.

But Back on topic,

A nice prize has been donated by a sponsor and I am in the process of getting photo's and rules put together. I am trying to get some "hype" going so we have lots of modders submitting entries.

I can't wait to see what the challenge is. Not sure I will be able to participate but who knows.

Someone mentioned this in another thread but a cool prize would be CrimsonSky's book

Airbozo

This Challenge will be similar to the last ones, in that there is no actual modding necessary. It will be based on concept and idea's and not a physical product.

I cannot give out too much info yet, but the prize is bigger than the last one (much). The overall concept of the challenge was actually taken from one of the suggestions received by a member (yes we do listen!). If I wasn't one of the judges, I would enter this contest myself!

aww no actual mod?:( oh well gues ill have to get better at sketchup:banana:

The main reason for this is that it allows more people to join the competition, not just those with tools and supplies.

While Sketchup would be the best format, we will not be limiting people to this either. Hand illustrated designs on notebook paper will qualify...

...please stay tuned...

So what can we do to start preparing for the challenge?

jdbnsn
04-26-2007, 04:18 PM
20 push-ups each morning followed by a protein shake containing wheat grass, meditate for several hours standing on your head to let the blood pool where it's useful (at least for this challenege), wear a pyramid on your head to channel mystical energy needed to out-wit your opponents. That should put you ahead of the class.

A strict diet of goat urine and boiled eggs should do it

I can't wait until this - I already have plans of what I am going to build and when I say build I mean I am actually going to build it! I will excluded personally from the challenge but.... I am still going to show my design and product!

It is worth checking back for this!

Hehe I am amused! I was posting a little sarcasm too. Cardboard is just one of those things that can be funny almost all the time (unless you are living in it). Hell I would say the most used material for mock ups and stuff IS cardboard. Nothing like a corrugated motherboard! hehe

BTW: I am closer to posting the details of this mod. We are just going over the rules to make sure nothing is too ambiguous (I was half asleep when I posted it for evaluation...). I think I also have some of the shipping stuff worked out so if the winner is not in the US they will not have to pay an arm and a leg for shipping... Woops, I said too much!

I had to rewrite some of the rules for clarity (damn me for assuming you guys had the mind reader mod installed already!), so I am heading home to watch hockey and clarify some items. I will then post the rules for peer review and _hopefully_ post them right after they are approved.

Keep checking back!

(Plus the fact it is end of month here where I work and I have not had too much time to rewrite them, due to the fact the sales guys pick the last couple of days to get all their orders in... In the last 2 days I have built 4 rackmount supermicros running linux (each with a different version), one custom dual Opteron workstation running RHEL5 with 4 monitors (not working because redhat moved the source files and the nVidia driver will not install...) 7 Dell 690 workstations (had to load win server 2003 x64), 2 Storage arrays and had to help package 65 HD's...)

I think my brain hurts and I am going home to pour myself a pint of Cider...

The average weight of a Madagascar fruit-tree bat is .75 pounds...
1 lb = 453.59237 g

I can't find any references to madagascar fruit tree bats but the "average" madagascar fruit bat (also called Pteropus Rufus) is 700g which means they are actually almost 2 pounds...
Where do you get your news... Fox?

To help prepare for this challenge, I have made a special hat made from old toenail clippings I collected from teenage girls. I then coated them in gold and attached a 9v battery.
It has made me feel so much better and so much smarter that I have overclocked MS Paint in anticipation for the challenge.
My diet has changed too. I only eat raw chicken covered in aluminium powder and drink UV reactive coolant power shakes.

I do believe that Airbozo has bribed the gods and managed to cover a HUGE portion of the shipping charges. You may have to pay a little bit extra but not as much as you would usually expect.

But...this is his news. You're all gonna have to wait. :D

When I win, hehe.

Maybe if I have a good idea that completes the challenge. Good chance I will depending on cost, time, and other factors.

rendermandan
05-01-2007, 11:59 AM
yeah, I also have an idea i've been toying witht that I've been holding back. (Snicker...) I never posted anything about it because I wasn't sure if I would ever build it. The fact that I'm a perfectionist and when i make something that doesn't turn out I get discouraged and usually lose interest in it. So I wan't to make sure I have all the "Bugs" worked out before I start the mod.

Among other things, I'm note sure what case I would use.
Plus I'm a little tight on cash right now. I was just diagnosed with an intestinal disease and the medical bills are going to start piling up. (GREAT)

But the case design may go along with this challenge, so maybe this is a great oportunity for me to unvail it to all of you.
