I want to make an extra copy of my Game DVD (Command and Conquer Decade) so I can use it in place of the original and thus expand the lifetime of the original disk. I have NEVER burned a DVD before. How do I copy this game disk?
Now, pretend I am a total retard on PCP and go step by step, because compression and all those related terms are meaningless to me. :?

Well there are alot of things that might stand in your way.. First you may need a dual layer DVD if its more then 4.7GB, otherwise you will need to remove content which could be detrimental to what you are trying to achieve.
EDIT:
This site has helped me in the past.. http://gamecopyworld.com/
Alot of the time I end up doing a full install and then use a No-CD patch. Then I put the original back in its factory packaging and store it on my software shelf in the closet. It REALLY helps with my daughter, she likes the Sims2 but this way I don't have to worry about her, messing up the CD's.
I know its not exactly what you asked but I hope it helps.

I think that may be illegal and we can't tell you on this board.

I'm pretty sure its not illegal if he owns the game. If he is pirating it then it definitely doesn't belong here. But from what I can read, he owns the game and wants to make a copy of it. Which is legal last I checked.
I can burn DVD's, but burning games is a bit more tricky so I can't help you there.

you can buy a copy of gamesXcopy. i'm not sure if its a good program for it but i think it works. i can't seem to find a link of there actual site for some reason but there are reviews and stuff about it when googled. but override has the best idea. as for illegal i'm about 84.13219281293% sure that if you own the orginal game you can copy it as many times as you want so long as its only for you computer/personal use.

Sorry TGS, wish I could help you. I would google it and learn about it so I could teach you... but what would be the point? lol you could probably learn how to alot faster than I could anyways.
Maybe this will help though.

just use nero to create a virtual image of the DVD then use nero to wright it on a new DVD
or use any other emulation software like :
paragon (http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Best/dvd-emulator.html)
or
VirtualDrive-Pro-CD-DVD-Emulator/ (http://www.download.com/VirtualDrive-Pro-CD-DVD-Emulator/3000-2121_4-10641155.html)
couldnt you just make an ISO of the game disc with alcohol then burn the ISO image to the dvd?

Yeah, a virgin tied to a stake. :)
If you own the game, you are permitted to make as meny copies as you like provided they are backups and for personal use, although reading the law closer, it states one copy at any one time.
But a good options is to install the game and goto:
www.Gameburnworld.com
and look for a NOCD patch, (CORRECT FOR YOUR VERSION)
This will allow you to play your game and not risk damage to the disk, It is very hard to copy games as they usualy have a bad sector you can't copy/emulate, or other form of CD check. SO your copy would be useless without a NOCD anyway.
I would not recomend copying C&C3, its about 8GB

Speaking of which, is it any good? I've been thinking about getting it but the demo I bought actually was just videos of stupid crap... damn fanboy stuff, I love C&C, just not getting all hyped up about it and dressing as the characters, lol.
