Cheap Aluminum Case

Hey Guys,

I just had an idea for an uber cheap aluminum case. All you gotta do, is go to your hardware store of choice and buy an aluminum roll or two. I am not sure what they are used for, but they are probably a tad thicker than a coke can. I bought a 2 by 10 foot roll for 7 bucks. Then, attach the aluminum to the material that composes the frame. It could be wood, plastic, an old computer case, or whatever. Also, because it is so thin, it could be contorted to whatever kind of bend or curve you could imagine, as long as it was secured properly.

Anyway, I may do this, unless I can think of some serious drawbacks. Can anyone give me some input on this? Thanks.

Two potential issues that i see are it being either flimsy or risk of sharp edges. Otherwise power to you. For a $10 roll I say go ahead and try it. Plus as you would be scratch building you could do something different than average. Just make sure your support structure is sound.

I think that you are going to fing the aluminum far too plyable to make a decent looking covering, at least if you are trying to make it look like sheets of aluminum. By that I mean dings, scratches etc...will show up badly.

Its aluminum plastic laminate. If you don't knwo what it is, its the same stuff as in most peoples kitchen counter tops. Its glued on.
