Hey Guys,

I'm trying to construct a cube (sort of) shaped case using aluminum paneling, but I have run into a problem. I don't think the aluminum panel is strong enough alone to hold everything together. It needs some sort of structure, and this is my problem. However, I have thought of a possible solution.

My design involves using four aluminum bars for the bottom ring, and drilling through one bar into the other to construct it. The problem is attaching metal posts on top of this metal ring in the corner, as I cannot bolt through a bolt (obviously). So I thought I could use the aluminum paneling on the outside of my case and bolt through it twice, once through the ring, and again thourgh the vertical bars. The aluminum paneling I plan on using is 2.03mm thick.

After that long explanation, my question is, do you think this would work? I have absolutely no experience (and therefore no clue) when it comes to metals (I apologize in advance for the bad drawing).

That's not the best way to support the corner, what are the dimensions of these bars? Solid aluminum?

The aluminum bars I get would be solid; I was thinking maybe 1 or 1.5 inches. I heard 6061-T6 is a good aluminum to use for modding, so I was gonna go with that kind. And I know this isn't the best way to do it, it's just that I have no access to any welding tools or the like. Does anyone have any ideas as to how this can best be done without welding?

Have a look at this thread of Franklin's (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6758) to see a case being made from aluminium tube with no tools required to join it up for the frame, other than a saw to cut the bar to length.

I saw that thread, but I don't know where to buy such a product. I looked for a couple hours one day for such a product, but with no luck. Do you have any idea where I could get some of those things?
