Far Cry, well maybe

I haven't played this game in ages and the mood struck me today to play it. The only thing is, I get constant crashes. Its only this game so i dont think its an hardware issue. Ive tried the 1.33 and 1.4 patches and i get the same results. They are just random to. I could play for an hour with no trouble or I could play for 2 min an the thing freezes. My PC stops responding, the last fram is stuck on the screen, and a 30 sec audio loop that plays over and over. Oh well just wondering if anyone had some suggestions. Thanks.

Upgrade your video card drivers
Update the game
Install the latest version of DirectX that your machine supports

Hit forums. Since the games been around for a while, any bugs like this should be known about and someone out there has probably dealt with it before, and maybe found a solution.

I never have this problem, though I'm on a very early version.
