Due to a recent thread in the Games section of this forums, I've created a public teamspeak for TBCS.

Hop on in!

Teamspeak IP : 204.11.33.45:8768

I should probably give you a link to download teamspeak.

Main Website : http://www.goteamspeak.com

Direct download link : ftp://ftp.freenet.de/pub/4players/teamspeak.org/releases/ts2_client_rc2_2032.exe

When you have teeamspeak installed do the following to make sure its working.

1.Run teamspeak.
2.Go to Settings>Sound Input/Output settings.
3.Click the button that says push to talk, and then assign your "Talk-Key" (Mines L-ALT)
http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p46/elgichbin/Teamspeak.jpg
4.Click on activate local test mode.
5.Hold down your Talk-key and speak into your microphone.

If all goes well you should hear yourself within a couple seconds. If nothing happens, check with your microphone settings.

To connect to a server they're two methods you can use.
1st one is easy.
Click on Connection>Quick Connect and under server address put in 204.11.33.45:8768. Assign yourself a nickname and just hop on in. There is no login/password you have to fill. Then click connect.

The second way is easiest after you've set it up.
Click Connection>Connect. Right-Click and add a new server (Click anywhere in the white area). Label the server (personal), under address put in 204.11.33.45:8768, click the Anonymous button. Leave the password field blank. Then click connect.

Seeya on Teamspeak ^.^.

Thank god RogerWilco is pretty much dead (It's pre-TS/Vent).

i remember using roger wilco for americas army even ((EARLY EARLY stages)

As for vent, you have to paay for vent.

Rght now I have a dedicated box with some extra bandwith available and Teamspeak (Unlike ventrillo) gives out a server application aswell as a client.

For you to get the server application for vent you have to go through licensing fees. Yea...i think not. So teamspeak is cool.

Teamspeak 3 is still in development however and its supposed to blow any of the voip programs out there, out of the water.

It's good to put some voices to posts. I spent a couple of hours shooting the breeze with Paul earlier. At one stage we had 3 different Countries on at once with me, Crimson and Gaz_the_chav on.

And all without subtitles!

CanaBalistic

Some people do need subtitles.

DaveW
05-04-2007, 03:35 PM
You might need them for me, although Crimson and Rankenphile seem to manage ok. :D To be honest though, I'm trying so very hard to be clear when talking to them...

EDIT: I'll probably drop in sometime. I'm waaaaay too busy at the moment. But maybe you'll catch me sometime later. ;)

Retarded question, but how do I make a username? lol

Ichbin
05-04-2007, 04:58 PM
Im only allowing server admins the right to register, only because if i registered everyone from the server, then itd get really annoying really fast.

So i just gave UN-registered users the same rights as registered users. Saves time.

But if you must know, a server admin has to allow you to register with the server.

Bucko and I are on right now. I like his accent..

I love Bucko's accent. I think i log in just to listen to everybody's accents. I don't know why, I've just always liked listening to different accents.

Anyways. I just wanted to post and say that if anyone sees me and I'm not that talkative I'm not trying to be rude or anything. I'm just very shy. I'm actually quite afraid of talking to people and twice as afraid of talking to people through any sort of electronic device unless its someone I'm really comfortable with.(you have no idea how hard it is for me to pick up the telephone). So yeah, I hope no one gets offended Its not that I don't want to talk to you, i just have a hard time actually doing it. I just log on and off every now and then to see what people are up to.

nil8
05-05-2007, 01:42 PM
No big deal. Snowfire seems to have the same problem. Talk when you want to. None of us are going to judge you or think any differently about you.

Paul and I were talking earlier about how useful of a tool TS is for asking questions directly to people who know something, instead of doing it via forum.

xRyokenx
05-05-2007, 02:09 PM
I tend to be a bit shy too... most of the time. I seriously hate phones. At least make it a vid phone or something too, then maybe, otherwise I have no clue who's calling and then you have to guess who it is if the voices are similar, etc. I'm gonna try to get on later, but if my stupid $50 Logitech USB headset doesn't work I'm gonna go into staples with the receipt and demand my money back, the thing's speakers messed up a couple days after I got it, but I hate having to return stuff repeatedly. I'll try to get on while trying to figure out how to play Eve Online later. That game is cool, I recommend it to all of you here that like MMOs... it's RPGish, but not quite as much as WoW... think RuneScape and KotOR but better. Along with a Star Trek element too. It's tough to figure out, but you get used to it, whatever that means. :D

Ichbin
05-05-2007, 05:01 PM
Hey, no worries man,

But honestly, the first step into anything social is trying. Just hop on TS and listen to the convos that happen. We won't think your rude or anything, just hang out!

xRyokenx
05-05-2007, 05:09 PM
I know, it's just been my personal life driving me off the cliff. ...and these god forsaken allergies. I'll hop on while I play Eve for a while, ignore me if I start stressing, I feel like total **** at the moment.

EDIT: Oh, and how the hell do I talk? Yeah, I'm a noob, who cares? lol

DaveW
05-05-2007, 05:36 PM
I'm going to hop on for a while tonight. I'll try and be sociable but i'm studying at the same time, so i might just drop in with an incomprehensible Scottish witicism or question along the lines of "So does TCP/IP comply with OSI or not?"

In both cases it's perfectly acceptable to ignore me. :)

Teamspeak aint so free for me anymore lol.

But im still gonna keep it up. I know im not on a llot, i havve a guest over for 3 weeks (in germany) and im heading back to the states when she heads back.

Anywho, so thats the reason for my absence.

And don't fret about the teamspeak, its still going to have the same address and the same amoount of user space, it's just gonna cost me like....10 bucks a month or something. So don't waste my money and get all your assess on it...INCLUDING THE VIEWERS.

Zephik
05-15-2007, 12:08 PM
Couldn't you host it off of a home computer?

xRyokenx
05-15-2007, 12:25 PM
Ichbin, I'll gladly donate a little to the TBCS TS server when I get a little more cash. If you've got PayPal, then that'll be the way I'll donate. I'll PM you when my bank account isn't so empty as it is now...

But yeah, it saves a lot of space on the forums for general BSing.

Ichbin
05-15-2007, 12:33 PM
-To snowfire

I could host it off a home computer, but a couple problems arise.

1.New ip (Although not a biggun, its still annoying.
2.Bandwith. A normal home broadband connection isnt meant for a teamspeak that gets used at all. If i were to surf the web, we'd all lag.
3.I'm moving back to the states in like 2 weeks....

So overall, its just not feezable (Spelling ?! lol)

To ryo, you definitally don't have to if you don't want to...and i'd wanna run it by crimson first before i take ANY moneys from anyones.

It's still his website :P I don't wanna be newyorkered on.

Wait a sec, wasn't Crimson gonna find a way to host it on the server the forums are on?

nil8
05-17-2007, 03:41 PM
Don't freak. Getting a TS host isn't expensive or difficult.
When we transition over to hosting TBCS TS on a TBCS server, it will be a little administrative work, but nothing horrific.

I should throw that on top of my to-do list for the site. Once the weather gets hotter and I stop focusing so much on el crazy woman(sorry about last night guys, you know how it is), I will really dig into getting some stuff tested & working with your current setup.

Which reminds me, can someone PM me the OS build of the linux server so I can get going with vmware on that?

DaveW

I could be wrong, but I think Crimson knows to set this up. If he does, he'll be on the case in no time. ;)

We're busy people. The weather outside has been perfect and some of us have jobs, lives, crazy women, etc etc.

I won't be around on TS tonight because I'm doing a core router move w/ the network admin. Hooray. Starts in t-minus 15 minutes and continues until we're finished. If it wasn't for that I'd probably be out dealing with the chaos that is woman.

I will be around this weekend for sure. I'm planning on spending at least 2 hrs working on a project for Crimson that I said I would a couple of weeks ago.

Have a good night gents and I will be talking to all of you later.

Ok I have come to this thread late and no clue what Teamspeak is ... but are we re-inventing the wheel?

Who uses Skype? .. Skype works great for hosting this kind of grouptalk thing - they have an interface all set up and working: "Skypecasts" - I already use this to deliver and discuss meditation techniques (AKA BRAIN-MODDING) with people all over the world.

If 75% of us are already using skype for something or another we could use that to deliver a working verbal-chat forum pretty quick.

Matthew

Ichbin
07-28-2007, 05:34 PM
I describe it as....a chatroom with a microphone.

It came out before skype, and well...teamspeak takes little resources to run in the backround while....playing games or such things. The program was completly coded around GROUP speaking. Teamspeak 3 is supposedly underway...with WAY better audio codecs, and WAY better admin management.

I may have some initial questions since I have never really setup a server before, except on my own PC. Once I check out the admin utilities on my server here I may have a few questions. I must say that the teamspeak linux install has got to be the easiest linux software install I have ever done...
