Ok, so I'm going to pick up a case to make a HTPC and want to do a little minor modding...pretty much cut some designs into the sides and salp some colored plexi behind it. I'd like to "frost" the plexi and put a white CC behind it so that it has a soft glow to it...I'm assuming sandpaper is the best way, but I want to be sure before I go ruining a perfectly good piece of plexi! Any suggestions?

Besides a sandblaster, varying greats of progressive sanding is what'll do the trick best. Start with a low grade and work your way up, until you finally sand with something like 400 grit paper.

I want to say that I've seen either in craft stores or in home depot some window overlays that make clear glass into a frosted opaque look, for like in bathrooms and stuff like that. It might be a bit easier, and if you don't like it, you can just remove it.

Here's some links I have found:

I hope this helps :)

one more question.... 1/8" or 1/4" ?? Dont want it to be too flimsy, but is
1/4" too thick?

For just a window behind metal or anything? 1/8" is totally fine. I used 1/4" to build my case because of it's rigidity, but unless you need it to hold a lot of weight than 1/8" is totally fine.

Yeah its great stuff. Cut yourself a stencil out of contact shelf paper, spray on the frosting, remove the vinyl and voila, instant etched look ;)
