Well guys i started this mod in late July of last summer. I started this mod knowing it was going to take me a while. I have been taking my time with this mod, for it is my 1st themed case mod. I wanted it to turn out exactly how i planned, of course there are some obstacles to every goal, hopefully I can overcome these obstacles and finish this mod by the time July rolls around.
The reason for switching this thread to this forum rather than the one i started it on was because the forum i originally started posting it on basically died, noone ever posts there. So i thought i was wasting my time by posting the rest of it there, Hope you all don't Mind. Feed back gives me inspiration to finish things so all the feed back / ideas you guys have would be a great help.
And finally, my other thread i have labeled "Reservoir Missiles" is a part of this mod. They are the reservoirs that will be on this case when all is done. So enough of me rambling here is the mod i started. (You can see the mod get progressively better as the pages add up, It's a big one btw ;))

On the way home from microcenter i stopped at a Hobby Town US and bought a 1-1/2" (38mm) Nylon Spinner for a model air plane, they only had 1 left in the size i needed to i had to special order one from the place, so theyre going to call me once it gets in...

The actual case itself, i ordered last night off ebay, should arive in a week or so, once she gets here i can start the actual mod, heres what she looks like...

Well thats what ive come up with so far, more updates soon :)
-----
Well i went to home depot today for some goodies, i bought 2 rolls of 3M blue painters tape, 2 packages of Loktite Plastic Epoxy, and a can of Bondo All-Purpose putty...now im just waiting for the case...

More updates comming...
-----
Well its time for another update, last night i got the spinner and got it ready for a layer of epoxy to make the holes flush with the spinners outside...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1042631.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1042632.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1042633.jpg
Then after taping it up i put a thing layer of epoxy on the inside so it would dry flush with the outside of the spinner...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1042634.jpg
After letting that dry i put a layer of putty on the spinner itself to get it ready to be sanded before i went to work, after i got home from work, which was about an hour ago, i sprayed it with a thin layer of sandable primer to accent the bumps and ridges on the spinner so i know what needs to be sanded...and thats where i am now, more updates to come...

As you can see from the 1st post, I am going to be makin spinners for the fans to give them a turbine type look. They will be modded onto the top of the case, you will see in future posts...
-----
well knives here you go, i scratched the painters tape idea and decided to enforce it with something different, a plastic easter egg that you usually see in your basket on easter. I epoxied it to the inside of the spinner to give the putty something to rest against...

Well like i said i was going to cut the intake holes on the top today, and i just finished, needs a bit more filing around the edges but heres what i have so far...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1032691.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1032690.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1032689.jpg
The holes arent exactly perfect, but when the fans are screwed in you cant even tell theyre not perfect...

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1032687.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1032686.jpg
I screwed the fans in to test the holes for the screws and they match up perfect, they look aligned to the naked eye, next step im going to do is the custom reservoirs... (i need to make all the cuts into the case that im going to do before i can start painting)...
-----
Ok guys, after looking at the case a bit, and noticing that both sides have an indented handle for opening the side panels, i decided i dont want a handle on the right side, the side where my reservoirs are going. So im going to bondo it shut :). Heres what it looked like before i put a layer on...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1052698.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1052699.jpg
Then i broke out the bondo and put a nice thick layer inside the hole to fill it :)...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1052701.jpg
MMM Bondo...<3

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1052703.jpg
And once its done drying, im going to sand it :) more updates soon
And heres after a little bit of sanding...

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1052706.jpg
So far im happy with the results, but it still needs to be sprayed with a coat of sandable primer, then sanded a bit more. Once i get the primer ill do the cones and this panel ;)

Ok, so i put a few coats of primer on the spinners and the right side panel, and they look great, a bit more fine sanding and more primer, and they'll be done...heres what they look like.... *Drum Roll*....

And there you have it...
-----
Ok time for a new update guys :), i just finished putting a coat of primer on the fans...but 1st i had to prep them with some blue tabe, to keep the mechanical parts from getting ****ed up :P...

-----
New Update, after a bit of slacking off i started glueing the Spinners onto the fan so i could start painting the actual blades. Heres how it turned out...
Started off by mixing some Epoxy...messy ****...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1012748.jpg
Then i applied some epoxy onto the fan and stuck the spinners on...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1012750.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1012751.jpg
(I know theres a gap between the spinner and fan, so dont bother pointing it out because it already sticks out like a sore thumb, but since they are going to be spinning 24/7, i dont give a **** :)) And now they are drying, once they finish drying im going to apply a coat of primer onto the spinner + fan combo so they can be finished and ready for paint!, Until then peace

Ok, so finally i finished enclosing the handle on the right side panel. Ive filled it with bondo, sanded it, then painted it with sandable primer, then gave it a bit more fine tuning with some fine grit sand paper. The only reason i didnt paint the whole thing with primer to finish off the primer job is because i still have to cut holes in the case for the reservoirs, so until then this is what ive got...
If your literate and can see what i labeled the old handle used to be where the box was...

and you get the idea, more updates soon...
-----
Well boys and girls, i got bored today so heres a very small update. I was sitting around pondering ideas for the mod and decided to mark the left side panel, so when collins comes over on tuesday - wednesday its ready to be cut. The lines are a bit hard to see with my POS cam, but you get the idea of how its going to be cut.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1012808.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1012807.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1012803.jpg

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1012806.jpg
I decided to keep the handle on the left side because i think it'll look cooler. I havnt decided if i want to round the edges around the handle or leave them square, rounded would probably look alot nicer, but i dontnk ow yet. The only problem with it is the plexi is going to have to have a hole cut in it so it can lay flat against the inside of the left side panel, due to the indent from the handle, other then that it should be cake. Im cutting it with collins's old school jig saw because mine decided to catch on fire
So until then, hang tight, more updates to come :)
-----
Well guys, the ****n plexi finally got here :jerkit: I could tell this company was a small company as soon as i opened the box, the plexi cleaner i ordered was in a plastic sandwhich bag, and they typed out and printed a letter for me to keep for my purchase lol, anyways heres some pics of it
I got 2 3" wide 2' long plexi tubes...

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1032826.jpg
also i ordered a sheet of 12" x 24" long, and 1/2'' Thick Cast plexiglass

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1032833.jpg

Well, i just borrowed my uncles 1908 Drill press, probably the original drill press right off the assmbly line, but it gets the job done, in about a half hour :). I just cut a cap for the Reservoirs with a 3" whole saw bit. I also threaded the hole in the middle with a dye kit. It doesnt fit exactly its off by about a 1/16th of an inch, but i wasnt expecting it to be perfect, it was pretty much a test. heres what it looks like... ( i wish i had a better camera, it looks alot better in real life :()

Man stfu, heres another update, i bought a 3" cone today, thinking it would be like 5$, ended up bein 10, so i jus bought one to make sure it fits the plexi tubes... and it fits like a glove...

K, well today i bought some new scroll saw blades (your welcome collins) along with a can of acetone...i cut a cap with the scroll saw and sanded it like a mother ****er... Heres what the the cap looks like so far...

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/S4020229.jpg
Still needs more sanding and other preperations...
As for the acetone, i tested on scrap pieces to see how well it would hold the plexi together, heres how that turned out...

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/S4020221.jpg
Turned out great, didnt leave any residue or any signs that it was glued. Plus i i couldnt even pull it apart pulling my hardest :P so thats how i plan to put these reservoirs together. more updates when i feel like doing it. Peace

So i got bored today and made another end cap for the reservoirs today lol. Its a bit premature, but my hands are raw from sanding, and my dremel sand drums are all warn down, so heres what ive got so far...

She looks alot prettier up close, which my camera cant do for ****. But she still needs a bit more sanding to fit the tubes perfectly...More udpates soon...
-----
Ok, So i finally got some major work done on the case after several weeks of sitting on my ass... The 1st thing i did today was finished the window cut, and the plexi cut that will fit in the window...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1012925.jpg
The cut took quite a bit considering i suck at cutting with a scroll saw lol
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1012926.jpg
after i was done all the cutting here is how she turned out (mind you she hasnt been sanded yet)

I think it looks ok, and will look alot nicer after i sand the rounded edges some...
Now for the plexiglass i cut for the window... heres how that turned out...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1012945.jpg
i simply measured 1/4" away from the outside edge of the panel and that was where the plexi was going to be held...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1012946.jpg
a shot of the glass from the outside view...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1012947.jpg
and after that i cut out the indented handle so the plexi could lay flat against the side panel...
Soon after thought of a way to make my caps for my reservoirs out of the plastic cones i had... I am simply going to use the cone as a screw on top for the reservoirs so i can refill water... I am going to do this by cutting a 3/8" bolt in half and epoxy it to the bottom of the cone so it can be later screwed into a threaded hole in the plexiglass cap...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1012932.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1012935.jpg
So i cut the screw in half, then i epoxied it to the bottom half of the cone to use as a screw on mechanism...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1012941.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1012939.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1012943.jpg
After it hardened and was solid, i put the top of the cone on and sawt out how it looked...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1012942.jpg
I also got some 3/8" rubber O-Rings that were laying around in my garage and put them butt up against the top of the screw so when i screw them into the reservoir caps, it will have a nice air tight seal (compliments of collins for the idea)
After finishing up with that bundle of crap i decided that those spinners with the gaps in the bottom werent cutting it. So i got some better bondo (also compliments of collins) and filled the cracks right up...since it was such a tight space, sanding was gonna be a bitch. So Collins came up with this bright idea... why not stick the fan on the drill press so i can jus hold sand paper against it while it spins?
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1012948-1.jpg
Looks rediculous...lol

Turns out it worked great, im not 100% done sanding yet. Ide say about 80% done with the sanding. Just a bit fine tuning. As for the rest has yet to come. :)

And another update :). Today when i got home from school i was bored so i decided to bondo up those nasty holes in the Cones for the Reservoir caps :).
But before i whipped out the bondo and started fillin them i figured i would prep them a bit with some Blue Painters tape...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1022954.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1022955.jpg
While in the process of preping the white cone i relised it had 3 holes for the propeller and not 2 like the other one, which pissed me off because that means i have more filling to do .
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1022956.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1022957.jpg
Anyway after i finished preping them with blue painters tape i screwed the cones to their modded bases and broke out the bondo...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1022958.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1022959.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1022961.jpg
I am very messy with the bondo as you can see, i like putting alot on, because usually if i dont ill end up missing a littttle tiny hole and end up having to apply more, so i just put a **** load on :D.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1022962.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1022963.jpg
I'm going to give them a good halfhour to dry because i put so much on lol...be back soon...
-----
Well i got some sanding done on the spinners, hopefully they will be able to be fixed or that was a complete waste of time. But oh well heres how they look...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1022964.jpg
Bad Idea^
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1022967.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1022968.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1022969.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1022970.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1022971.jpg
I finished the major sanding on the yellow spinner and now i just need to put a coat of sandable primer on it to show the parts that need fine tuning.
And then came the problem. After i did a bit of sanding on the white spinner on the press and took it out, the damn bolt was jiggling... then i looked back at the yellow one and noticed it wasnt 100% solid either...
What it should look like...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1022975.jpg
What it looks like...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/P1022974.jpg
So now that im stuck with this problem, theres the easy way of buying new ones and redoing them, or over comming the problem and fixing it, which i plan on doing. Ill let you know how that turns out soon. :)

Well I've finally got a major update to post on here after months of doing absolutely nothing. I bought one of those play station LCD's off one of my friends and decided im going to mount it to the front panel of the case. and on a small note i moded the mouse im going to use for the theme of the case. I only changed the LED inside from red to green to fit the mod a bit more. I still have to paint the mouse but oh well heres how the mouse turned out...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00041.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00044.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00042.jpg
and the thing lit up...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00046.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00047.jpg
and for the major part of the update... The LCD. In order to get the LCD up and running, you have to solder some VGA wires to a PCI card to get the video working on it. So my friend AJ generously donated a PCI card to me. Its pretty nice for how little i need it...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00028.jpg
And here is some shots of the play station LCD he sold me...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00023.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00024.jpg
Me and collins began soldering the card to the LCD and relised the wire we were using was just too old and we werent happy with the results. So we're going to redo that another time when we come across some nicer wire. So instead we decided to cut the hole for the front panel and do all the major body work we needed to do to the front panel so it can be ready for its paint job. (Bondo / Cutting.) Heres what the plan was...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00048.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00049.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00053.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00054.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00055.jpg
Simple right? now all we need to do is sand it?.... Wrong?...
We accidently rushed it a bit and measured the whole LCD and not just the screen, so the whole LCD was slipping through the hole that we cut...so with my trusty knowledge i came up with a plan to rig up a mount so it would sit flush with the front panel...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00057.jpg
We used this piece of sheet metal to make a square frame kind of with a square hole in the middle so the LCD could slip into the hole from the back of the panel and rest against the sheet metal and stay flush with the front panel... (if that made any sense)
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00059.jpg
So we began cutting it...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00058.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00060.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00061.jpg
After we got the sheet metal to the shape that we wanted we taped it onto the front of the case as to how it was going to be mounted and got it ready for the drill press. We were going to rivot it to the front panel so it stayed secure...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00062.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00063.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00064.jpg
A shot of the LCD mounted how it would sit ^....
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00065.jpg
and a shot of the sheet metal after we took it out of the drill press

and some shots of the LCD inside the sheet metal after being rivoted in...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00070.jpg
And just so you know we werent going to just leave the sheet metal and rivets exposed like that, we bonded the **** out of the front of the case. Im kind of glad we ****ed up the hole, i feel a bit more insured the LCD will mount nicely now that we did the sheet metal thing. I wanted to bondo up the stock power switch, floppy bays, and the ugly ass square holes in the bottom of the panel anyway... so heres some shots of the AMAZING bondo job that collins did <3

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00071.jpg

Ok well after we waited a good 2 hours for the bondo to dry we went back out to the garage and did some sanding. We have been modding since 9pm and its now 7:45am. so thats a while, heres how far we got in sanding...

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00083.jpg
After we applied the bondo we decided that we should re-enforce the floppy bays because we only put a layer of bondo over the face plates. So i used up the rest of my Epoxy on the back of the face plates...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00084.jpg

Well time for another update after a nice 6 hour nap. What we started out with was sanding down the window cut on the left side panel of the case. I wasnt sure how i was going to sand it down because i am currently out of sanding drums, so Collins came up with an idea he used a few times before. Take the cutting discs from the dremels and put about 6 of them on so its a thick layer...

Ok, now that im done blabbing heres a real update. I finished the Front panel. All the bondo work is done, the hole for the LCD mount is done. All i need to do is give it a coat of sandable primer to do the finished touches on the sanding, heres how it turned out...

Ok andrew heres what you've been askin for, a new update. Collins is spending the night and we're modding til the morning. But tonight i just decided to get alot of work done on my reservoirs. I found out a way to get the caps completly flush with the plexi tubes finally. Heres the idea me and collins came up with...
We cut the cap 3 1/4 inch. (1/4 inch thicker then the tubing) and then we put a bolt through it so we could sand it down using the drill press, that way it turned out nice and even, and not lopsided like my last few attempts on the caps. Heres how they turned out...

I'm very happy with the result. But i must return to the garage, I'm going to see if i can drill these holes in them and glue them to the tubes by morning, Seeya
-----
Ok, so after my last post we finished the caps for the reservoirs...I drilled a 1/2 Inch hole through each of the caps because that is whats going to be needed when they are mounted...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00084-1.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00081-1.jpg
After we finished with the caps we realized we're going to have to wait a bit to do physical work to the reservoirs, so we started making the stands that will hold them onto the side of the case. 1st we marked the plexi before we started cutting...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00091.jpg
(the X in the middle is the hole cuts)
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00093.jpg
After we drilled the 2 holes, they looked like this...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00094.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00095.jpg
After a bit of sanding inside of them we started to cut the stands out with the scroll saw. Cutting 1/2" plexi is damn near impossible with this thing, it takes about 4 clean tries before a piece breaks off...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00099.jpg
When the piece finally broke off, there was a lot of melted plexi and jagged edges on the cut edge so we sanded it down a bit. And that didn't do it all the way so we decided to use some acetone to melt down the jagged edges some...

ended up looking pretty good in the end result after a bit of sanding...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00103.jpg
After each stand was cut out individually they looked like this...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00111.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00113.jpg
Obviously the tubes will be sitting in the half-pipe part of the stand revealing half of the tube...
So we put the stands under the tubes to see how well they stood up...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00106.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00105.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00114.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00115.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00119.jpg
They're aren't really any gaps between the tubes and the half circles that they lay in, they're nice and snug. Although in the pictures it may look like the stands are not square and uneven, its just the piece of crap wood they're sitting on, There was alot of dust and debris from all the work we did tonight. In the end im happy with how much work we've got done. But we aren't done either, we're goin back out to the garage to do some LED work on my other side mod once we feel up to it. I should have some MAJOR updates to this worklog next week when the smaller plexi tubbing comes... Until then take it easy, and get ready for more updates. Seeya :)

Haha **** you collins, your a bitch. But anyway heres an update. I finished the 1st cap successfully and im 90% sure that it wont break like the last one did!
I started with cutting the smaller hole into the plexi so it would fit inside of the cone...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00005.jpg
Once that was completed i cut a 1/2" hole in the middle of the plexi and the base of the cone and put a bolt through it so i could mark the holes for the bolts that would secure the plexi to the base...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00008.jpg
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00010.jpg
After finishing the holes i decided to thread the 1/2" rod and also thread the 1/2" hole inside of the cap...

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00018.jpg
Like a ****ing glove :)
Once completed i put 2 bolts into the base of the cone and put the small plexi circle ontop of them and bolted them bitches down...

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a151/Ear1Simm0ns/Mods/Tank%20Case%20Mod/DSC00023-1.jpg
After the plexi was tight and secure, i put the 1/2" threaded rod inside of the hole after lubing it up with some acetone... After realizing it was tooo lose to just use acetone i pulled out a heat gun, compliments of Collins, and melted it some so it would be a tighter fit, then applied more acetone...

And thats the stage where I'm at right now. Sorry about the random talking with the previous members of the other forum lol. If any of this completely confused you and you are curious as to what the hell I'm doing feel free to ask. The stage im in right now is making those reservoirs so once that Reservoir Missile thread is done this will be updated

Hey dude! Looks awesome.. my favourite is the LCD hook-up. If you dont mind do you think you could say how you hooked the LCD to the PCI card? Thxx.
By the way, Hey Everybody! I've been a.. guest lately and I figured I might as well have some input and share my ideas:P Anyways, good luck on completing your mod brah, Ill be posting my own soon. I cant wait!

if i could find one around... but i all i did find was a 150$ car lcd.. eerm... too much for me at my current budget.. and why would i need a pci card? for tv out? or for vga/dvi? or for keeping future options as open as possible?

For all of you asking about the LCD and how it works, I did not originate this idea. I merely took the idea from a different mod i saw, you can find a full tutorial on how to install it from this link...
http://www.bit-tech.net/modding/2004/07/07/psone_lcd/1.html
You can find these little Play Station 1 portable screens on ebay for about 40$ last time i checked. The reason why they're 40$ is because the picture isn't that great. But if your going for a cool little mini screen it's definitely among the cheapest mods. Enjoy

I wonder if you could use a cylinder honer to smooth out your fan holes?
My idea:

That would be a good idea, i was thinking about making them look a bit nicer by using some U rubber things to outline the holes but i just through out the idea because the fans cover the holes completely. But thanks for the tip :)

There's an HSC about a mile from my house. I got a 10.1" LCD screen, full color, no controller, 15$. 640*480.
I've also got parts for my case mod from there. General stuff, like fan grilles, toggle switches, etc. It's like a ****ing candy store... of electronics.
