Project "A-51"

This will be my next project, the work title is „A-51“.

It will be inspired by Area 51 and all those spooky stories around it…. The Rig is build from parts of some normal ATX Midi Towers which I already converted to a WTX like "case" and some 90° aluminium bars.

It will get a huge side+top Window and a lot of eyecatching details in the inside of the case.

Up to now I already have done some of the gadgets I will built in, like an motorized “Iris” which regulates the airstream from a stealth mounted Fan under it.
But enough of the words here are the first pictures of it ….more will follow in the next days….

just a small update with the small radar screen on his place with some light on.....

and i´ve made a small video from my "iris".....at the moment everything is a little bit fast but i will slow the movement down in the later progress....

i made a first part of the sidepanels which will be placed on the bottom part of the case.......
inside i will place a huge fan which will cool down the radiator which i will use for the watercooling system.....

in the last days i decided to change a few things.....like the DVD Drive which is now mounted outside of the case in the sidepanel....

it´s now only thrown in to see if everything would work ..... in the next steps i will build something to mount the drive correctly...

i have just made a first try for the front "entrance".....the stairs will be part of the ground plate........the front door which finally will cover the radiator will be motorized so that both panels would slide away

in the last days i was very busy but here are some small updates:


first i build an elevator which i will later hotwire with my lpt port or an interface for the lpt port so that i can use the holes for every level of the building as an indicator for the cpu load...........

then i build a small cover where i will build in some buttons for opening / closing the front door....it will be placed on the groundplate of the case in the later progress....

Just a question, are you going to make this whole thing out of wood?

yes and no.....the inside of the case is made of metal....some of the outside parts like the front and the upper sidepanels are made of wood, because i want this heavy look it makes....

at the moment i´m making the last details so that every motorized door works like it should and after that i´m going to complete the paintjob.....
(after it i will post more pictures of the complete progress)

in the last weeks i was very busy finishing all those little details because i have show it @ the Games Convention (GC Casemods Masters 06 (http://www.gccm.de) and the IFA (IFA C3 (http://www.dcmm.de/ifa). But now i´m back home, everything is back in place and i have some time to post some pictures of the final mod (i think i will post more pictures and some videos this evening)
