usually you cant even get the system to post. also, if it has any noticable chips in it, thats prolly a sign that its dead

On a chip that I have a crushed core (Poor shipping to me when I got a system from someone on a forum). I can boot and run for about an hour. Then it starts crapping out. Once the chip is warm it locks up just after posting.

you don't understand Frakk, after the A8V logo and then the via raid screens come up after that i get nothing, so it is set to boot from the disk but nothing comes up

Like everyone else said...if it was fried it wouldn't boot at all. Sounds like windows has corrupted or you have mis configured a setting in BIOS.

Do this.....Set it to boot from the CD-ROM, put in your Win XP disk and boot to it......Does it go into the install process?

nope, all it does is give me an error beep then a blank screen, no windows setup

This is beginning to sound similar to the problem I'm having....

I have no POST screen and no beeps, but everything is on.....

ok. i gave in and took it to a pc repair shop. they said it wasn't fried, but they are not sure of the problem yet.
