Would you happen to have links to those parts? If you don't, NewEgg.com (http://www.newegg.com) is a great place to find out the prices and buy them.

Also, you can get a Core 2 Duo for less money than the 6000+ and it's faster.

What are you going to do with this PC? Usually 2GB (2x1GB) is enough RAM unless you are doing media encoding or something like that. More specific than what you picked, I'd go for DDR2 800 RAM (that's the type and speed)

HDDs look fine. Have you picked which HDDs to buy? Western Digital and Seagate are the most popular. As for the type, SATA II HDDs at 7200 RPM work well.

Not really sure about the video card but if you want to be able to use Direct X 10, you'd have to get a nVidia 8000 series card. (8800GTX is one of the best)

(Oh, and this doesn't really belong in this section; see if you can get it moved to, say, the Rookie's Nook or somethin)

Nice system... but to be honest, Core2Duos would use less energy and should be as fast as the 6000+ (if you choose a high speed Conroe... like a 6700, or an overclocked 6400). I think you'd need more power from your power supply if you go with that setup.

Does someone know if XP 64bit edition supports more than 3Gb of RAM? I know XP Pro only supports up to 3Gb, but don'T know about the 64bit version. And as Redundant said, 4Gb is gonna be some overkill, as most of the best gaming machines on the market are using 2Gb.

yes xp 64 supports 4gb coz it is showing on my system... so what you lot are that amd am2 6000+ is not good? even though it the latest coreduo processor amd has made

We never said the 6000+ is bad and I have no idea what that second part means; Intel makes the C2D, not AMD.

I said you should use a Core 2 Duo because they are:
-Faster than the 6000+
-Cheaper than the 6000+
-And use less power and create less heat than the 6000+
(when compared to a C2d e6600)

From Wikipedia :
Windows XP x64 can support much more memory; although the theoretical memory limit a 64-bit computer can address is about 16 exabytes (16 billion gigabytes), Windows XP x64 is currently limited to 128 GB (2^37 bytes) of physical memory and 16 TB (244 bytes) of virtual memory.
All right, it does support mroe than 4 Gbs... lol ^_^;

And if you would be going for Core2Duos from Intel (which we all recommend, I think... lol), you would need another motherboard, cause the one you got there is for AMD processors.
