House of 1000 Corpses was really bad. Agreed.

The Good Shepherd was really bad also, imho. It was hard to follow, and just generally uninteresting.

I really enjoy movies that make you think, or totally immersive movies. To cover both those points, Children of Men was easily the best movie I've seen this year!

The Sentinel... the SciFi Channel one, I watched most of it and then my bro's tutor came. :(

It's about how they made these cyborg drones to replace the police, and then eventually go on a rampage just killing people, it's a kickass scifi military action movie, and totally my style too. There's more to the plot, but I haven't seen enough to put much more together.

I'd post a link, but my grandpa may have had the title wrong.

Tales from Earthsea - by Goro Miyazaki (?/5)

Has anyone seen this one?

and just for laughs and giggles...

The company is well-known for its strict "no-edits" policy in licensing their films abroad. This has stemmed from the disastrous dubbing of Miyazaki's Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind when the film was released in the United States as Warriors of the Wind (it was heavily edited and Americanized). There is a rumor that when licensing Princess Mononoke, Miyazaki mailed Miramax a katana with a note reading "no cuts", to underline their "no-editing" policy.

I can't believe that The Crow or Braveheart haven't been mentioned yet.

Or the first Terminator for that matter.

Or for that matter, Equilibrium. Great movie. Go watch it.

And another independent film just came to mind--Go.

Where the hell is Dazed and Confused?

Don't make me make a list...I don't have time for it at the moment!

The Sergio Leone trilogy: For a Few Dollars More, The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, and A Fistful of Dollars
Titan AE
MiB and MiBII
Star Wars IV, V, and VI (not the crap that was released as prequels!)
Strange Days
Dirty Harry
Borat
Any James Bond starring Sean Connery
Casablanca--best movie of all time imho
Anything directed by Mel Brooks
Miami Vice--much darker than the TV show from the 80's
T2

And I'm sure there's more that I'm not even thinking of at this time.

Some of my favourite movies:

Dellamorte Dellamore
Quite simply the best movie i have ever seen, so good i paid £35 for it on VHS, and have vowed to watch it only once every ten years or so, so it doesnt loose its impact!

John Carpenters The Thing

Dawn of the Dead
The original of course, the remake would have been a semi-decent film in its own right, but as a remake was a joke.

Childs Play
NOT the childs play about chucky the doll, but a film i taped off the sci-fi channel years and years back about a family waking up in the night to discover they are trapped in their own house.
it was a made for tv movie, hammer house of mystery and suspense i think.

Stalker

Ginger Snaps

Tadpole

28 days

American Beauty

Ghost World

The House By The Cemetary

Night Of The Hunter

2001: A Space Odyssey

Assault On Precinct 13
Again, the original, havent seen the remake and dont care to.

Thats all i can think of right now.

So Wanted is actually good? From what I saw of the trailers, I looked pretty rubbish to me. I mean, I like dumb action as much as the next guy (Shooter and Die Hard 4.0 rocked) but Wanted didn't look that great. The whole bullet curving thing made me go "Nah, I'll leave it thanks."

Oh well, I'll probably pick it up as a weekly rental later and judge it then. It might have some redeeming set pieces or something I'm unaware of.

To contribute, October Sky. Based on a true story about a 1950's American teenage boy who starts building model rockets and ends up at NASA. Very inspirational without being all sappy and Disney-like. Also check out the book it was based on, Rocket Boys by Homer H Hickam. It goes into a little more detail about the characters and their relationships.

October Sky was effing brilliant, watched that one for English.

There are alot of truly epic movies here, but one that I havent seen on the list is A Clockwork Orange! That one has to be on there for sure! How can you forget a character like Alex DeLarge! Other movies that are must sees are:

Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Superbad
The Austin Powers Trilogy
The American Pie Collection
Batman - The Dark Knight
King Kong (new one is epic)
LOTR Trilogy

I dont know if many of you will know of South Central, but it is a truly hilarious movie.

Thats all ive got for now, but there will probably be more to come.

I know there are some on there that have already been said, but im just reinforcing the opinion.
