I was thinking of making a B2 Bomber computer :D
here are some pics

I know i will have to build this case from scratch but how big should it be ? I want it to be a gaming computer ( not just for flight sims). It will be a summer project if i can get a job . I will also build a custom desk for it (hopefully) :) I'm not too great with sketchup or anything so does anyone have any ideas on how i can create this?

Make it huge!
It looks like _it_ would make the perfect corner desk in itself, with the components inside.
Steathly. Is it a desk, or is it a computer?

lol neat idea but it will be a computer on a custom desk :p i like airplanes and all but an actual airplane desk... i may have to think about that now... hmmm i could probably make it actually 8)

If you haven't already, check out Crimson's Project Nighthawk for some ideas.
Also, since this is gonna be based on a stealth plane, I'd seriously consider water cooling.

Thanks for the tip. well since i had nothing to do I Made a cardboard model using my old computer parts i would take a picture but i can't since i lost my memory card :( . well once my cousin comes home i will take a pic probably. The bottom will be made out of wood and it will be covered in expandable foam called Great Stuff then i will sand it down and put latex primer on it and paint it. For the top it will be wood, foam, pvc, and plexi. My very unaccurate model wingspan is 2 feet + lol As for the power supply and the possible water cooling equipment their enclosure will look like a runway :)
here is the 3d model i will be using to help me

Try to get an 8600 a 320gb hd and 2gigs of like 667 ram for like If you get the right stuff it shouldn't cost too much.
If you do make this thing really big, maybe have the canopy open up and have the drive bays in there? Engine intakes could be intake fans. One thing you might do to get some more ideas on what you want to do and how to approach this is to build a model of this. You can pick one up at a hobby store for fairly cheap. Plus, if it is the right scale, you might be able to use some of the parts on your new case.
I have been somewhat close to stealth planes before (F111) and the A-10 and the paint they use on them is a radar absorbant type, and to the touch it is sort or rough. I don't mean rough like sandpaper, but it's not smooth like a car.....When I think of it, flat paint would be pretty close.
Oh, one thing that might be really cool is if you made the drives on the bottom be in the bomb bay, and have them come out of the bottom. That might be a lot of work and expense, though.

hey i think you are reading my mind lol. I was thinking about making the bomb bay contain the hard drive and combo drive but they may stay out permanently but maybe not i'm still trying to figure out how i will build this. i have seen the models of them online but they are really slim. the engine intakes will contain fans i'm just not sure what size. i need to find some sheets of styrofoam to mess around with.

if you do end up with water cooling you could make the wings reservoirs and make them with windows to see the coolent.
You can find foam at a fabrics and crafts store. I was at one with my wife last week (scrapbooking stuff sale) and saw they had a ton in different shapes and sizes.

thanks for the tip i may just get some sheets from home depot and stack them then carve out the shape :)

You might want to keep the bomb doors open and turn it into a window. A creative window can really do wonders for a mod.

Get a Micro ATX Mobo, and some Sheet Styrene. It would be cool if you made the flaps move manually or motorized.
One thing you have to keep in mind is ventilation and clearing the cpu cooler. You could always use a sister board for the cards.

Visionary - I will think about a window for the bomb doors.
Eclecticos - i am getting a micro atx mobo :) where can i find some styrene sheets ? i'm not sure about making the flaps move or not. Where can i get a sister board ? (links please) . There will be 2 80 mm or 120 mm fans blowing air in and taking air out even if i do watercool it.

Most Hobby shops have sheet styrene. . its very easy to cut and work with. Picturing your idea in my head I would guesstimate it would need to be atleast 3 1/2 feet from wing tip to wing tip for the correct look when elevating the cockpit and engines over the PC components.

do you know of any good tutorial on using styrene ? and 3 1/2 feet seems like alot lol. I may have to consider another plane ..... have any ideas on a good plane or even helicopter i should consider ?

I just thought of a few ideas for your B2 mod. You could make the case look like a hangar. Maybe hang the motherboard from the top of the hangar and have a small model of a B2 in it. Might look cool with good lighting. Or you could replace the fuselage of the plane with a huge bomb and then attach the B2’s distinctive wings to the sides. It would be symbolic of the B2 without being a scaled model of it.

a hangar would be interesting i may consider that.

That B2 Would be an Awesome Mod. Please do that one.
We will help you to figure out how to arrange the stuff inside.
It is Do. .able! If you want a I will do a styrene tutorial. I have tons of it.
First you need to make a frame for the inside.

That model is 1:144 Scale That equals out to roughly 14.33" Inches from wing tip to wing tip.
It would help for sure for having parts to dupe.
I know your not gonna try to put a computer in that
Well. . maybe a Pico Mobo:

EDIT: 1:144 B2 = Exactly 14.330708661 Inches :D

If I watercool this what parts should i definetly get waterblocks for and will one 2 x 120mm radiator be fine ? I still have to decide on how big this will be though.

Water cooling the processor and video card would be good; they're the hottest things in the case. You should still have some airflow in the case to cool the NB and HDD(s) though. You can use slower, quieter fans to cool those.

Alright thanks how do you connect everything correctly ? ex: with two 80mm radiators what goes first and etc.

bump....still need answer for last post and guess what I found lots of Styrofoam!!!!! but before i do any carving i need to make the decision on how big i will make it.

I don't know much about watercooling but I'll try to help.
This water loop should work:
--Processor--->Video Card--->2x120mm Radiator--->Reservoir--->Pump--|
^----------------<---------back to processor-----------<---------------
I think that is the most efficient order. I would also suggest getting a 120mm radiator if room allows.

I have concerns about the incorporation of watercooling into this rig. Depending upon the construction method, water cooling may add additional weight that the foam or frame cannot properly support should it be moved. watercooling would be a neat move, *if* the build solution is properly engineered from the beginning. I think, for the sake of keeping the solution easy to build, and not weight compromised, air cooling could be performed on this model once built, and that fresh air could be pulled on the jet intakes.
A little mesh over the intakes, and proper fan placement will do a world of good, thermally speaking, especially if there is a 3rd fan somewhere exhausting and the PSU is not the sole exhaust mechanism.
If the CPU cooler is too big, locate a 1U server, low profile heatsink. Also, the video card is big. Mock up your build using cardboard, foamcore, posterboard... something. Make sure your dimensions are properly accounted for before you start off down the path.
Would hate for you to start building, then realise this thing will be bigger than your desk.
Another "option" would be to do what Crimson did with his Skunkwerks stealth build, and that is to make the build mimic the center fuselage of the plane. Incorporate some style elements into the build that make it *look* like a B2, but you might not have to build the whole thing!
Just food for thought!
You can do it!

Thanks for the info tech-daddy i will reconsider actually making a model of the plane for now that isI may create a different plane or just mod a case with an airplane theme.
