I have some money, so I'm wanting to get a new monitor, an LCD. I was thinking about getting a 24 inch, but if you think a different size would be better, let me know. I currently have a 17 inch LCD which I would use as a secondary dual display. I plan to eventually get a second of whatever monitor I get and hook them up as a dual display.

Yeah, Samsung pwns. I'm just curious, is 2ms the best response rate you're going to find? Speaking of the response rate, just so everyone who doesn't know does, you want the lowest "xms" possible, where x is a variable standing in place of the number that's supposed to be there.

the lower the refresh rate the better, but they say below 8 you can't tell.

my screen is 12ms, and i can't see it, lower the bestter, there is a view sonic which i belive is the fastest in the world at something like 0.5MS responce rate.

well thats why i like samesungs they used programs and crap to make it 2ms and another program to make the contrast 2000:1 instead of 700:1 (averages... i think)

Samsung is trustable, and I can afford to buy that. Any other suggestions? Would size would you guys recommend? I'll be doing a lot of graphical and 3D work.

For 24", this is one of the best at a good price:

Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP Wide-Screen Black Flat Panel Monitor, LCD: $569 (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-4335)

24" is the smallest size to view 1080 HD and 2 A4 sheets of paper at 100%.
It also has a built in flash card reader and USB ports.

If you want to use both the 24" and 17" at their max. resolutions, you'll need a really good video card.

The 2407WFP wide aspect Flat Panel LCD also provides an excellent option for video editing and 3D imaging as both source and destination video can be viewed in a single window!

Looks perfect for you.

I bought a 22" proview from walmart and I really like it. I think it was like $304 or so after tax.

I got another 19" Widescreen for $139.00 off Ebay.

Big Enough. . for me.

So you can pay $300 for (1) 22" widescreen or get (2) 19" widescreens for $278 and have 16" More.

I could probably sell my 17" for like $100 too. I guess I'll look into that.

Here are the ones I got (yes 2 of them);
http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDetail.do?oid=171870&WT.mc_n=92&WT.mc_t=U&cm_ven=COMPARISON%20SHOPPING&cm_cat=NEXTAG&cm_pla=DATAFEED-%3EPRODUCTS&cm_ite=1%20PRODUCT&cm_keycode=92

I looked at the equivalent samsung model and the picture was the same. They must use the same panels in their screens since the specs are exactly the same and I could not tell the difference between the 2 when I put them side by side. The main reason I got the LG was that the Bezel is thinner than the samsung model so when putting them side by side the gap is half the size on the LG's. Also the samsung bezel is SHINY and reflects light too easy and is rather distracting...

Holy Dust Batman!
LMAO!

Seriously, you need to clean your PC and peripherals.

Take this scenario:
-Playing BF2 in your dusty screen...
-You see some movement in the distance...
-You go to wipe the screen and the sniper shoots you.
-You think: "I would've seen him too, if it wasn't for that meddling dust!"
;)

Besides that, I hope the inside of the PC is cleaner than that for the sake of you components temperatures.

Here (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001083) is a 22" that doesn't have a shiny bezel. It's 270 after $20 MIR. It also has a pretty slim bezel. The only thing is it's 700:1 contrast and 5ms response time. If I could afford it right now, I would get 2 of them....but wouldn't know what to do with all that space. :)

I looked at the 225BW as well. They are nice, have a better base than the LG (I HATE the LG base because it tends to want to tip over, but that will not be a problem after I make my own base that will hold both of them) and yes the bezel is nice and thin and NOT shiny. The main downside to the 225bw is the contrast ratio. Other than that it looked good too. The 225bw was my second choice. Definitely worth the price!

I have a 17" samsung with a 600:1 and it is plenty, I have never seen any issues with the picture. I don't do any "hardcore" photoshop where that is demanding. I use it for gaming and light photoshop and it is nice.

Here (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001222) is a 24" but it has a 6ms but has the 1000:1 contrast and is atleast double the 22"

::LIGHTBULB!::

Since you are going to be making a stand with whichever monitor you get, would it really matter the color of the monitor as long as it has the contrast and thinness of the bezel to put side by side. Since we are on a modding forum, you can always paint the body of the monitor to match your pc or just flat black, couldn't you? Just a thought.

I live across for a produce field "strawberrys, watermelons, cantelope" to be exact, The wind kicks dirt devils up off the field, and It makes its way inside.

I dust today. . 1 week from now it will be exactly the same.
I guess I need one of those shop compressors to blow the dust off everything.

Thats a pretty sweet monitor, the whole 770 bucks kinda kills it though. lol, but I paid $840 about a yr or so ago for a 27"? LCD Olevia monitor which is now about $350. lol how things change, lol

Personally, I wouldn't go for that 24"er- just because of the price.
The Look and Design is SW33T! Im a fan of the white peripherals, makes 'em look clean/sleek/stylish. But a couple of 22" for that price..

My self, Im a bit of a fan of the Acer's, mostly because of the value for price. They're basic moniters but what else are you looking for other than view, and specs? Either an Acer or Samsung.. My recommendations:D

If you have the money, go with the 24" Dell one. It's the best "bang-for-your-buck".

I think the next step down should be a 20" because it has the same resolution as a 22", hence it should be clearer. So for a 20", get this one. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824112006)

It just depends on how much you can spend:
$500 for 24" (capable of 1080p)
$200 for 20"

24" would be great for 3D

EDIT: uhhh, Outlaw? You're talking to yourself on your last 2 posts...

If you are talking about my quote, then I was quoting myself to show that I replied saying that he should get the samsung and be done with it.

so here is the skinny get the samsung, but beware there are 3 different model within each model, S,A and C, Look hard to find an S panel they are made by Samsung and have by far the best color reproduction out there. The A panel is still a good panel but is blue dominant. The C panel is a price of crap. If you are in a dark room I would recommend the HP 22 but it has a shiny surface but the colors come through far better than the others.

How can you find the S panel? Well it more or less luck of the draw. I got mine by going into store after store and checking the display for the S on the back. Found one on display at the Best Buy asked if I could buy the display and they said sure. They got a new one down opened it up was an A panel they swichted it out and away I went with the S panel.

I'd go with the 22" samsung. I almost shat myself the first time I turned on my 20" It was the clearest, sexiest picture I've ever seen!

Especially if you're ready to spend 600 bucks or so, I'd get 2! *day dreams*
