Hi all. I'm modding my first case this weekend. It's not going to be too hard I hope, I just plan on painting it black, then maybe cutting a whole for a window.

EDIT: I just realized that my Dad bought this giant ISA fan card, and that where it is placed, gets absolutely no intake/output. Rather than take it out, I got an idea to cut a small whole in the side and put some type of grill. If I'm able to find a suitable grill, I'm gonna do that instead.

I'm going to be using this case for a current game server and I was getting bored of the cliche beige case. I don't have much lighting on my gaming rig even, so until I get new stuff for that I may not attempt the window.

Here are some pics:

Stuff I'm gonna paint (minus the spring for the button and the badge, lol)

Specs:

750mhz AMD Processor
512mb RAM
Matrox G400
10GB Seagate(or 3- 40GB Maxtors if I can figure out RAID. See my other thread (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?p=103898#post103898) to help me please!)

You might have noticed I ripped the Antec case badge off. Since I will be running Linux on this machine, I figured why not rep the penguin. I want to buy a penguin case badge, but I'd like to get it with some lighting. Where can I get both for cheap?

And what should I use to paint the aluminum/plastic parts?

well i tried painting my new case and it came out ok but i was to impaitient so there are some runs of to much paint. i painted things to close so the extra spray made a mess of the nice finish.

Did you use spray-paint? That is most likely what I will be using. I guess I'll take my time to avoid runs and such.

I snagged a Linux inside case badge from thinkgeek (http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/accessories/5b43/). They've got lights relatively cheap too. They've got other badges as well, check the link in the previous sentence.

Welcome to your new addiction!

yup. i grabbed 2 full cans of black engine enamel paint from work for free hehe. i also grabbed some 1000 and 2000 grit sanding paper to try my hand at wet sanding but there are way to many uneven surfaces to try it on and i would need like 6 cans of paint. at the time i started to get runs it was a second coat and my finger hurt like a bitch from constantly pressing the nozzle down. after that i only gave things 1 coat, it comes out better.
