A Modder's Treasure Trove!

I do believe that I will have no shortage of cases for the foreseeable future. Earlier today, I placed a call to a gentleman who recycles outdated electronic equipment. After loading up my POS 27" television, we got to talking about what he does with the computer equipment that he picks up from other people.

90% of it gets scrapped.

Told him I was in the market for a few things. He told me to come over and browse.

Most of the stuff that he has is severely outdated. Regardless, the possibilities are ENDLESS. I did happen to pick up an ATX form factor mobo tray/back panel from him. FOR FREE.

He told me that if there was any stuff that I needed as far as cases and other odds and ends go, to feel free to call him. Needless to say I've got 'Harry the Computer Guy' plugged into my cellphone.

This sounds like a sweet hookup. I could use a guy like that, need a few motherboard trays. I guess I will have to look for a place like that when I have time.

Ive gotten alot of junker crap from my local compy shop. I got a 1ft by 1ft piece of acrylic once cause the guy scratched it to bejeezuz and back.

local places are always the best.

I imagine all you would have to do is contact one of the electronics recycling collection companys and work out some type of deal.
They want it for the aluminum, copper, and gold. So asking for some steel cases would be your best bet.

That's pretty much what this guy's place looks like. Although he did have 20+ identical PIII (I think, didn't have time to look at them all that closely) systems that worked sitting in his 2 car garage.

I got an Idea a. . U-Pull it Computer Graveyard. :D

They had one at the Maker Faire. And it was completely free, too. I got 7 dead HD's (ghetto Hard Drive Speakers (http://www.afrotechmods.com/cheap/hdspeakers/hdspeakers.htm), anyone?), among other nifty crap.

That stack of computers is almost 6 foot high. And it extends all the to his fence, which is about 12 feet away.
