A month or so ago I came into a few emachines for free. I decided that my new workbench should have a new custom painted computer to go along with it. So "Hades" was born.

Here is a pic I found of the original case

First I sanded down the powder coat that the case came with

Next up clean up the front panel a little bit.

This case had front USB and audio jacks under a slide down panel. It worked like crap so I deleted it.

I added some body filler and a little glazing putty to fill everything in and get a real smooth finish

Next was to primer and add a gloss white paint job. Smooth :D

Time to paint the rest of the case. I put down a few coats of self etching primer and topped it off with a nice gloss black

Now comes the tricky part. I recently invested in an airbrush setup and have been anxious to try it out. What a perfect excuse 8)

I taped off all the flames.

I started with a yellow for the basecoat and moved into a nice orange to start filling in the flames.

On to a darker orange and some red to fill out the flames a little more and then a nice mix of yellow/white to blend the sides into the front panel. In this pic you can also see the shadowing I am starting to apply for the flaming skulls.

I had my wife handy who went to school for makeup airbrushing at the ready if I made any mistakes

I then added a dark black to finish up the skulls

Peel very carefully...

I love the look so far

I popped on the front panel to see how its coming along

Part two starts tonight.

I have to airbush some designs on the front panel and add some finishing touches to the flames.

Thanks for looking 8)

Let me know what you all think.

***Update***5-21-07

I spent some time working on the front panel tonight. I finished up my new power switch and got most of the front graphic done.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone :)

Few change of plans, I am not happy with the front panel so I decided to redo it so stay tuned for that.

Also I had a major "doh" I have been using a laquer based paint for all my painting so far and apparently the airbrush paint was an Acrylic enamel. So I tested the clear coating on the side panel and it started lifing the paint on the flames :(

So I get so sand and re-paint tonight, I'll have to make sure I grab Acrylic enamel from work this time. The other side should be ok, I'll just use the Acrylic enamel clearcoat this time
