View Full Version : I have been officially diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome
You may rememeber that thread I made at like the beginning of this month. Well, today I saw my psychiatrist and he thinks I was right and that I do have Asperger's. He says everything we thought was just a social anxiety disorder (which is what he diagnosed me with before) was just one symptom of the whole thing. So now he also wants me to start seeing a therapist. So i'll go see someone I went to for a little bit before. Not really what you might think of as a therapist, but more like a counselor. So, uh, yeah.

Should we congratulate you? Honestly, I have no idea why you told us this...
"Stay gold, Ponyboy, stay gold" lol
You seem fine on here, at least, so it can't be too serious a problem.

I told you because I don't have a lot of other people to talk about things with. And I just haven't been feeling right. And I would seem alright on here. And only when actually having to deal with real people that it becomes a problem really.

Maybe because it would be so damn easy to pretend he doesn't? Maybe because he wants to be accepted for who he is instead of who he appears to be? Nobody needs a reason to tell people something.
I'll stand by what i said before DaJe: this changes nothing. DaJe before = DaJe after. I'm gonna treat you the same bud.

Well, that video helped out a bit. The guy that made that knew what he was talking aboot, I'll keep that info in mind.
To make this easy on me, I'm just going to copy and paste something I typed up as a response to someone elsewhere.
Well who I saw was my psychiatrist. And the guy I'm going to see, isn't really a therapist, but really a counselor. And it actually does help to talk to them. As for me, I don't look people in the eyes when I talk to them, don't do small talk, would prefer to just not talk to people I don't know most of the time, and have a hard time understanding people and connecting with them. That's not the only thing about me though, but I'm not going to get into all of that right now. Some people on here say that I seem to appear normal, but that's because being online is like being in a different world. I don't actually have to see a person and speak to them, and can always safely leave.

Believe me, you're not the only one that feels awkward talking with people, and I do stupid crap too... if anything, don't worry about it so much, we accept you the way you are, and the way you act in real life doesn't really affect you here on the forums. Don't worry so much, lol. :D

QFT man. Go get some books on living and coping with Asperger's, go see your shrink and continue living the way you want to.
Yeah, this is something that's always been with me, it's just never been called this for me. But I do a lot better than I did years ago, and do things now I would've never done before. But I still have trouble with a lot of things, and some days it's just too much.
