Ok, here is the deal. I'm sure someone has already made an orange PC, but I want to try also. I need to know "IF" they exist.. where to purchase orange cathodes. I realize there are very discolored red ones that appear orange. That will work too, but I do not know which ones to get. I perfer true orange but if all else fails the red/orange will work. Does anyone know where to buy orange cathodes from? I need about 6. I have inverters, that is not a problem. Also, I know this is not the exact forum for it, but does anyone have any other suggestions besides lights for an all orange computer? I am just starting to think of my idea and am very open to suggestions. Or if I missed it, can anyone post a link to an already made orange computer for ideas.
I would appreciate anyones help.
Thank you.

Ok, I read up on another forum that had a post about this same topic. It states that the best way is to get orange cellophane. Has anyone tried this with any colors? I just wanted to make sure it worked. Also, does that mean I should buy white cathodes and wrap them in orange?

Yes - you'll want to buy some white cold cathodes and use an orange film to wrap them. Alternatively, red lights w/ yellow film or vice versa might produce a different, sort of hued effect.

Yeah, that's the best way to get it done. I made an orange computer, but I just painted the inside orange and added whited cathodes.

I just checked hobby engineering...and no luck :(. So I have to agree with the others here.
Was hoping to find one for ya, cause I'm kinda thinking I'd like to have one or two myself...
Although...does it have to be CCFL? Cause I did run across some orange LEDs (http://www.lsdiodes.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=25) @ LSDiode. If you went that route, you wouldn't have to worry about an inverter blowing on you.

I appreciate all the comments. Orange cellophane is not available at any craft store I could find. It is available online but the shipping is generally pricey. I have the option of using red and yellow (combo) or.... I thought of just using orange sharpie straight on the tube. I am going to test the sharpie trick right now and see if that works. I appreciate the LED option. I think I would prefer with the cathodes though. I an not that good with working on LED's.

It seems to work pretty well. The sharpie worked on a standard light bulb and I would assume work as well on a cathode tube. Viva la sharpie.

I agree with above, orange markers can be very easily used to color white cathodes with great results. You should check out Paul's book, he mentions it in there. Maximum PC's Extreme PC mods.

Ok, I got the solution. It is definitely the best to get markers. I bought white and red (aka pink) cathodes. I then used the wrap technique, and found that it heated the cathodes up to a temperature that melted the glue holding the tube in the casing. I nixed that idea and went onto the markers. I used orange sharpie and it was fantastic on the white cathodes. You have to cover it two times because as you turn it on, you realize you missed several spots that you can not normally see. But the even better effect occurred with the pink cathodes and a yellow sharpie. This got the best and brightest orange that i could possibly ask for. But I suspect that it would only work on the junk red cathodes that are pink instead of the true red ones. This is actually the time that you would need the cheaper product. Anyhow, I appreciate all the responses and If anyone wants orange cathodes, go for the pink cathode (crappy red) and the yellow sharpie technique, it works wonders.
