So, I was driving home from college, exhausted as a result of all-nighters, stress, and studying....and I fell asleep at the wheel.

When I woke up, I was driving on the shoulder, hit a highway sign, freaked out (bad idea), and my car rolled over a few times.

I came out okay, which is a miracle to say the least, you'll see from the pics that I'll be adding momentarily....I only ended up with a badly bruised shoulder, which is healing quite nicely, a few cuts, and the feeling that I am a complete dumbass...........oh well, at least I get to live to mod another day. ;)

speaking of which, my laptop was damaged, and here's the insurance part--they will replace my 2 year old laptop with the amount I used to pay for it in the first place--about 1500. So, I get a new PC.

Now the real headache begins...Vista ready? I do want to see what DX10 is holding for us...........besides, I want the computer to last me for a while. At least until I can't game anymore, lol.

Thats pretty scary man it could have been a lot worse. Accidents can be really scary. Hope you get better soon. I bet you where more in shock then anything else after the crash.

So I am guessing the car was a right off if you fliped it a couple of times lol. How fast where you going?

Unless you are buying a laptop most laptops don't have DX10 cards in them so vista doesn't help. But if you are buying a desktop then sure go for it.

Oh and I can't see any pics

Yeah, I was fairly shocked...I was running around and screaming about my car, and a few expletives came out...once I calmed down, I was more like, "My parents are gonna kill me!!!"

But they were just happy I was alive.

I am getting a desktop. The headache of it all is finding Vista-compliant hardware that I actually WANT.

At first I thought you were using the auto insurance claim to get a computer.

Now that'd be geeky.

Let this be a lesson to those of you who have never been in a serious accident.
Don't drive tired. Taking a nap is preferrable to an accident.

You are extremely lucky and I'm glad you had your seatbelt on or else you would be dead or severely injured.

As for your hardware, I say you sit on the money until the middle of summer before you even start research. DX10 and Vista are still too new for anyone to really say concretely that there's a specific 'great' setup in a price range.

I would suggest visiting www.tomshardware.com to keep up with it. Great hardware site.

I'm not sure if the crap in the back or the frame of it kept the back of the car from being crushed... but ya, good lesson here.

jaxspades: Dell has a deal were you can get a PC with 19" flat panel, DVD Burner, P4 proceesor and a bunch more goodies for $500. why not buy two and use the rest of the $$$ for modding supplies...?

Thanks, but I only need one PC.

I am lucky, if you want to put it that way. I definitely owe it to the big guy...He's got plans, that I'm not aware of.

Thanks for your support. I was definitely in shock when it happened, but I'm mostly okay now....I am glad though that my mom always taught me to buckle up. :D

Anywho, I'm gonna build my own instead of getting a Dell or two...I just like the idea that I built it myself.

That, and at least as Commando knows, I'm modding my own PC sometime this summer, I'm just surprised that the money came this way instead of the normal pay-check way....

So, look forward to my first mod (hopefully)--Dark Phoenix.
