I need to do a quick mod for my next case.
I went down to buy a HDD for a Linux box I am planning, but instead I came home with an Intel E6600, 8800GTS and a new MoBo....
Damn shiny computer bits wanting me to buy them. :dead:
The Ratputer isn't going to be ready any time soon, so I need to do something else for the mean time.
No Idea I would prefer to keep in it's current case and maybe do something else with one of my spare cases, but I'm not sure what.
I was maybe thinking a military styled case using the old Bruised case, or maybe a car themed case to go with my new Logitech momo wheel and pedal set.
Hmmm, I'll have to do some thinking.

 are you serious? lol I mean, sure, I understand going into a store for something and coming out with that and more... but how the hell did you go in for an HDD and come out with THAT? That would be kind of like, going in to buy a new steering wheel and coming out with an entire car! I gotta give you your props though. Thats pretty friggen awesome!
I like the idea of a military theme. I've been into camo and that kind of stuff alot lately for some reason. I don't really have any real idea's for you, but I'll throw a little bit into the idea pot.
You could try doing a military theme but while keeping it really simple, clean and flush. For example, stealthing the cd drives, buttons/switches, etc. Just make everything look really integrated and flush with the case.
Another idea is to try and go for a sort of rugged look, like armor plating or something. You could take acrylic, cut it out in like a puzzle typish pattern, then stick it onto the case. Sort of like THIS (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/projects/doom3/dm_assemble_7-%283%29.jpg). Do that all over the case and then give it a nice camo paint job, might look pretty cool?
Hope that sparks some idea's for ya! Good luck with it ^_^

Well I was actually going to buy some cables and a couple of fans too (which I bought).
I had a spare $1000 from doing a whole lot of overtime lately, so I decided "Why not?" while I was there.
I couldn't pull anymore out of my account, so I'll have to go back and get some RAM and a HDD.
edit: Thanks for the idea too, that may happen if I do a Military theme.

Nice Ideas for the mod especially the Military theme but is it going to be futuristic or old fasioned or present day military.
You could call it project destiny.
sorry For some reason I saw the words military and I thought of that was in a film I think.

I know it's been done repeatedly, but I gotta admit, I love the look of diamond plate (http://www.metalsdepot.com/products/alum2.phtml?page=tread&LimAcc=$LimAcc).
If I were to ever snag one of these babies (http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?vertical=TOOL&cat=Bench+Power+Tools&subcat=Jointers%2C+Planers+%26+Shapers&pid=00921754000&BV_UseBVCookie=Yes), I'd have to build a diamond plate case for the computer to reside in. Of course, that case would reside in a plexi cover of it's own with a K&N air filter on the front of the cover (http://www.clean-aire.com/Computer%20Enclosures.htm).
And I'd put some LED spotlights in that baby as well.

Well I just got back from dropping some more dime on this system, all up just under $2000 in 2 days.
Today I bought an iCute 600W modular power supply, 2 gig of DDRII800 RAM, Windows XP Pro OEM, 500 gig SATA HDD and a SATA DVD burner.
I'm gonna like cable management with this rig. Modular cables which will be easier to shorten if needed, plus no big bulky IDE cables at all!

All the hardware is now installed in a case, other than the wiring. I'm almost ready for bed, so that will get done tomorrow.
This case will get no mods, it's just to get it up and running while I decide what to mod between the other cases.
I'll take pics tomorrow.

Ok here are a couple of pics.
The case I've put the hardware in:

A shot of the insides. I haven't done anything except splapped it together to make it run.

And a picture of the pretty lady on the 8800 box. She is also on the video card too!

Right now Windows is formatting the 500Gb drive to install itself.

You know, if I can't decide on something. I'll often look at the box to see which looks better, then that will be my decision. lol
Does your power supply have the same plastic cover thing like your front bezel does? Thats pretty cool. Liking the modular too, that should keep things really nice and clean!
What mobo did you get btw? Love blue mobo's. ...and black or dark purples ones. Basically, I just don't like green ones. lol
Btw, smoking is bad for you. ;)
...but I won't lie. Those clover ones smell really good!

The MoBo is a Gigabyte 965P-DS3.
No the PSU doesn't have a cover like the front of the case.
edit: Format is 86% done after over an hour and a half... The joy of a big drive.

The RAM I got is some PNY brand stuff. Never heard of it, so I'll see how it goes. I'll probably buy another couple of modules and have 4 gig of RAM. It was only $159 for the two sticks of DDRII-800. I paid $120 for one 1gig stick when I bought the second one for my other PC only 3 months or so ago.
I don't really need 4 gig, but meh, there's the space for it so why not.

Well after 2 1/2 hours the drive is formatted, Windows is installed and the PC runs!
I still have to connect the internet to it, update Windows, install AV software etc.

First post from the new machine!
Also, I've done my first mod. The Northbridge heatsink was getting very hot, like too hot to touch hot, so I installed an LED fan.

The northbridge is a LOT cooler now, both in temperature and looks.

Now I have some time off I need to do some modding for this hardware.
I picked up another 20" Samsung monitor today for it too, on sale for $150 less than I paid for the other one. I also got another set of Logitech X540 speakers. I was impressed with them on my other machine, so decided they would do for this one too.
The other thing I need to do is clean up my desk so both computers and 3 screens can fit on it.

What kinda games have you been playing with that new video card?
PNY is Good Ram! I have 2GB's PNY Optima. Haven't had any problems with it since I switched motherboards.

Actually no games yet. I got it all set up and running, then went into Hospital.
I have to install a few now. I want to try out Test Drive Unlimited with better settings and no lag. BF2142 should be better too.

Oh yeah that thing gets hot. I had that same mobo, and then the northbridge got so hot that it failed on me. I should have put a fan on it, but my Blue Orb covered half of it with it's fins.

I added a 120mm fan to the front in the drive bays.

Then I used some spare drive bay covers from another case so it can get airflow:
