heya guys,

after ages of consideration i have decided that i would love to mod my case based on my favourite game. I want to create a mod of my Alienware copy case, based on the Overwatch elite NVP from Halflife 2.

I would love you guys to tell me if you think i should go ahead with it?

Heres the case as it stands.

http://img377.imageshack.us/img377/5734/combineassasinehc9.jpg

my intentions are the put an etched window in the side, paint the whole thing white and red, with blue lights inside. I plan to put a half life 2 logo on the front of the door, and various details, made from milliput.

Okay guys a mini update, im working on the HL2 emblem for the front of the case, im currently waiting on some milliput epoxy resin stuff to put over the top, but this is like the shell for me to work around. as you can see the front of the case has like a apex kinda thing going on, so i have had to construct the logo so that it will fit the case like this.

http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/6234/p5310730ls6.jpghttp://img511.imageshack.us/img511/9813/p5310729yi7.jpg

On the front door, and possible around the sides, im going to cut a piece of card the same size, then disect it. adding little lumps and bumps to make it look metal panelling. more to come soon.

Heya, update.

I have been working on the emblem for the front of the case, it has taken a fair bit of time to sculpt it out of cardboard, then out of Milliput, i have sanded it down to make it smooth, its still alittle sketchy, but i will paint it after i finish it.

Im taking this project slowly as funds are tight, i would love to mount an lcd on the front of my case and play a continuous video from the halflife game, but until i get the funds i will have to wait and see.

The emblem looks nice, and for the record...
Should i mod this case? You never have to ask that question, the answer is always Hell Yeah!

ahaha, the case is an alienware copy, the company is one of those, unnamed ones, i liked it being an alienware copy, but it was abit shortlived. i saw a great deal of potential in it. I cant find anohter one of the same i t was just one on ebay.

thanks for your support guys

Hey all,

Im back on the project, stronger than ever. I recently won the modders challenge, and i thought that seeing as i have been given this award, i should give back to the Modding community, and continue with my Half life 2 based mod.

I took the side vents off the case and painted these white, then sanded, then red, then sanded, then red with a black mist over the top and then clear coated them, the result can be see here:

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x211/Sabrenoose/P7050738.jpg

I then masked the area outside of the side vent and painted these white and black, to give a dirty white look, im fairly pleased, i then clear coated the whole thing:

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x211/Sabrenoose/P7140749.jpg

I Went out later this week during college and bought a Crow bar for my case, £3.99 (what a bargain). I intend to mount it on the top (after painting it) as a handle.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x211/Sabrenoose/P7120746.jpg
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x211/Sabrenoose/P7140747.jpg

I then began to mark out the window on the side opposite to the moby:

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x211/Sabrenoose/P7120743.jpg

After this was done i started to paint the other side of the case (i will paint the window side after cutting it). I had a minor disaster, I was forced to paint outside by the powers that be, and as a result the wind blew and dust went right accross my case. I had had a bad day already as it was, so i got my nail and wrote TW*T across it in anger. and went for relaxing browse through tbcs. Later that night i sanded the whole thing back and reapplied the paint, about 5 coats so far to clear up all of the little lumps and bumps.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x211/Sabrenoose/P7120744.jpg

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x211/Sabrenoose/P7140748.jpg

Finally, the most recent step i have taken is to mount my finished logo on the door of the case, i intent to also mount a fan controller prior to me finishing this paint job. As you can see i have masked off the logo as i dont want to ruin the finished part on the top, and i have used ripped parts of my A level maths sheets (which i have now dropped, so boyah, no more critical path analysis etc)

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x211/Sabrenoose/P7070742.jpg

Im going to work more on the project tomorrow, work on the paint job and do some stencil work on the other side.

Thanks for reading!

I havent really had the time or effort to upload and update the thread, no one really seems interested, but ive started so i shall continue.

I have done alot of work, so this post is very picture heavy.

I decided that i wanted to paint my keyboard, i took my old microsoft keyboard apart, sanded the plastic, undercoated it with black, then painted and glossed it.

Here are the drive bays and fan controller painted.

I then took my case to my Grandad's work shop.

here is the case during disassembly:

we had a few ideas about attatching the crowbar:
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x211/Sabrenoose/P7200768.jpg

Preparing the window:
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x211/Sabrenoose/P7200769.jpg

The window cut:

Cutting out the middle of the window:

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x211/Sabrenoose/P7200784.jpg

Cutting the gap for the Fan Controller and fitting it into the door:

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x211/Sabrenoose/P7200785.jpg

The front door completed: However the logo is different colour white! i think its from a different batch of the paint:
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x211/Sabrenoose/P8030840.jpg

I FOUND SOME CHEAP MESH! £1.50 persheet, its a pinboard:

Fitting the window: http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x211/Sabrenoose/P8030839.jpg

Fitting the crowbar supports (ugly, but im gunna sort those out)

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x211/Sabrenoose/P7200791.jpg

A lot of people (myself included) like to read logs without posting. I post in some, but I try to read all of them, so keep posting ;).

But, it's looking great, and I envy that mesh you found! It looks pretty awesome on the panel! Keep it up man

Exactly. Adding a new post with just a "w00t! Nice work!" doesn't always add much to a thread. I pretty much read everything and post when I feel like it.

Anyway,
