View Full Version : Getting Cables Out...

Well, dear me. I was playing around with a rather old pentium 2 machine I was given a couple of years ago wandering how much of the case I could salvage (the components are well... cooked).

So I started taking things out. That was until i met the primary IDE cable and the floppy cable which had been hotglued in. Why is beyond me. Here's a pic:

See my problem. I could just rip the thing out but those cables might be salvagable and theres a chance the mobo still works so I'd rather not be too rough and I fully intend to reuse the floppy drive and cable. Any thoughts on what might remove it. The floppy cable is hotglued to the drive too...

Any ideas on how to remove them without doing much damage or getting my soldering iron dirty?

Thanks

get a knife and prise the glue off. The stuff doesn't stick that well to plastic anyway and should come off fairly easily.

Cheers.

That worked fairly well - floppy is fine anways and I think the mobo survived (give or tke a bit of irrelivant plastic).

I'll close this thread seeing as the problem's solved - why didn't i think of that?
