View Full Version : Dave's Announcement

Hi folks, it's about time I up and outed with my little announcement.

As you all probably know I've been bogged down with my exams, so my presence on the boards has been pretty sporadic recently. Well, now my exams are over, but things aren't going to get better; probably worse. This is because I have a disease which requires surgical treatment. I don't want to go into what it is because it's not something that we really need to talk about, but suffice to say, it's pretty major surgery. I go in on the 11th and I'll be gone for at the very least 2 weeks. After that, I might be back at home, assuming there's no complications. If that's the case I'll be back for a wee while doing what I can to help out.

However, this isn't where it ends. For my course, which I'm only just scraping through at the moment, I need to do a 10 week work placement. If I do this placement, I'll be working full time and I'll be difficult to get a hold of. As soon as I finish the placement, I'll be back at Uni in 4th year, trying to get good marks to make up for this year's poor performance (mainly due to my failing health).

Why am I telling you this? Well, one reason is that I love the community spirit that we have here at TBCS, and hiding this just doesn't seem right. Another reason is so that everyone knows that Bucko, Airbozo, jdbnsn, and AJ@PR should now handle all your issues and questions. I'm cutting back on my workload here so I can ensure that everything I'm involved in can carry on without me: for example, Airbozo has the Modder's Challenge and jdbnsn has had the front page for a good while now (And is doing a better job than I ever did!).

I'm still here, and I'll be contributing as often as I can. But consider the days where I replied to every thread and every PM over. I'll do my best, but with the new talent here at TBCS, you guys are in good hands: you have nothing to worry about! :)

Of course, I won't be doing any modding either this year. :( I have a mini project lined up that you all might like, but we'll have to see! So that's all for now guys.

As I frequently say in real life...watch this space. :D

I'll certainly be there to keep an eye on things until you are back properly.

This is because I have a disease which requires surgical treatment.

They can treat being Scottish now?? Wow, the wonders of modern surgery. No wonder you say it's major! :D

All jokes aside, I hope your health (and your marks) improve rapidly because we'll miss you around here.

That's unfortunate, but with any luck you'll have a quick recovery.

Also, sometimes, you have to prioritize life before modding. Hard as it may be.

I wish you luck and good health.

May The Force be with you Commander Dave.

Get well soon too. ;)

I know you don't want to really get into the surgery with us but is it more of an organ problem or muscle/tendon problem?

To hell with that! I'll be modding the bed. Just you wait. :D

I'm getting an Organ removed. I'm considering asking them to put in a window while they're at it, so you can see all the squishy bits working away. Maybe a couple of cold cathodes too. :p

Thanks for the support guys, but this is just an FYI. I'll be fine. I had a rough patch but some good friends helped me though it and I know that, barring the chance of complications, this is going to give me my life back. :)

Hopefully that doesn't sound ungrateful! I just want you guys to know that I am OK. :)

Hehe Bucko they do have a surgery for being Scottish, the side effect is that Dave will have a thicker accent. I hope I can understand him when I visit...:D

Dave, They have a name for that window surgery. It's called a "Plexotimy".
Normally that operation is reserved for those with their heads up their arses so they can see where they are going...

In your case it would truly be a MOD... Don't forget the UV lights while they are in there.

And yes I will be tipping a Blackthorn to your health!

Hang in there man.

I'll drop a prayer your way.

You know though...I always wondered if they could paint your intestines to reflect UV Light...

Or maybe add a temp sensor so you always know when you have a fever.:D

okay, I've taken it too far...I'm done....for now.

Have a good one, and God's blessings on your upcoming summer!

Does this finally prove how dangerous chronic eating of Haggis is?

Seriously though Dave, good luck with surgery, recovery, and school. We will all be waiting for the post later this year saying everything is going well and you're busy as all get out living life.

DaveW, God Speed Ahead. :)

If you need anything, just holla'.

We'll go running to the rescue.

NEWS AT ELEVEN:::
Scottish Police are dealing with an unusual imigration problem... hundreds of self-proclaimed 'modders' have invaded Scotland from all over the world. They are making their way to... we're not sure yet.

I know I'm fairly new around these parts but to you good luck. Surgery stinks big time. I know your Scottish, but here's something for ye that always helps me when I start to feel down.

May you alway walk in sunshine.
May you never want for more.
May Irish angels rest their wings right beside your door.

I love Irish proverbs, they always make me feel better and smile.

I'm getting an Organ removed.
-Dave

As long as it's not Your Man Organ and when you come back you ask us to call you Daniel instead of Dave. I think that would be an extreme way to increase the number female modders around here. :D

You know I'm just joking with ya, wish you all the luck with the surgery man. And just for the record I'd still call you Dave if you did get the above mentioned surgery.

It used to be used over here in the US too. Fell out of language in the late 1800's. Go figure. 2 fortnights is a month, roughly. Phase of the moon and all.

Best of luck Dave. I know we're all hoping this works.
