Hi,
A few months back, I bought a secondhand computer from somebody. When he shipped it, it was so poorly packed that the plexiglass cracked and the on/off button came of. The button was nowhere to be found inside the box where the computer came in.
Anybody any idea how to fix this ? The button is a shiny, silver, round one. Maybe a little bit bigger than a Penny.
Thank you

Can you post a picture of the case?

Non-Wired (http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=118&products_id=2716) - Must know how to solder. Btw, that goldish ring you see isn't visible when the switch is installed. Just an FYI.
Pre-Wired (http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=118&products_id=4056) - If the connections don't work for you computer, cut off the ends and use a wire that will by splicing them together. I'm only guessing that you still have the wire from the original switch that is lost? You can use that if the ones supplied don't work.
Other (http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=118) - Other switches that can be used for your situation.
Hope that helps, if you have any questions. Feel free to ask!
Welcome to TBCS btw.

Thank you for your replies.
When I look 'inside' where the the button once was, I don't see any wires.
So, is it just a matter of finding a button that would fit, and glue it onto the plastic piece ?

plug the computer in and try to press the botton if it turns on then yes you can just glue a button on it and it should be fine otherwise you will have to replace it.
and get some pictures if you can they always help.

I think, if I understand correctly, he doesn't have the button anymore. It just got up and vanished.
Could we get a picture? I could possibly then recommend a button for you. I would need a picture of where the button was and your motherboard. So I can see what kind of button would work in not only fitting it onto your case, but plugging into your motherboard as well.
Btw, most of the buttons I listed don't require glue or anything. If you got a hole in your case, stick the button in and then take that goldish piece and fasten it from the inside of the case. That will secure the button into place.

well what i was thinking is that the top/face of the button came off but it could still be used. like if you pop a key off your keyboard, you can get a screw driver and push it and it "should" work.

Any ideas how to fix this ?
Thats not too serious by the looks of it. Just superficial.
Plug the computer in and push the black bit at the back of the missing button which the button would have pressed and it should all go. The actual switch looks still to be present.
To make it look better You could make a new button to fit over the switch.
The button itself is just to look nice, that little black bit is what actually turns the system on.

why not custom one?. let say; put a quarter in the hole, with a glue gun; glue it to the button: et voila :)

as for fixing it just look for some buttons in craft stores or make your own.

Ah okay, I see now.
You can use just about anything that would fit there and glue it onto that black switch. Like a shirt button. When you pressed the button, it would press the black switch. Tah dah, your system turns on.
Or you can remove the entire thing and get a whole new button like I said before.

That's actually a 'functional' mod I made. I got sick and tired of the plastic piece jamming so I removed it. For another case, I stealthed the little black end in a case I painted black. If you didn't know it was the O/I, chances are you wouldn't get the thing started.

If you REALLY want it to look nice, buy a Lian Li power switch for a few bucks. I saw some that came in black or gray.
