View Full Version : Virtual memory and page file...
I have 768MB of RAM and windows XP. I've always been confused about virtual memory settings. I recently have bought battlefield 2 and want to make sure the settings are right so the game preforms better. So, how should I set up virtual memory and page file?

This is a difficult question....WINDOWS is a bugged operating sistem.....

Depends how many drives or partions you have.
If you have 1 drive and 1 partition, set page file to fixed size anywhere from 512Mb to 3x you physical memory (depends who you ask....)
If you have multiple drives/partitons, move the page file off your windows partition. Defrag the other drives/partitons and spread the page file out across the drives/partitons
EG - If you have 3 drives and want to have 1Gb page file. Set drive with OS to zero, Drive 1 to fixed 512MB and Drive 2 to fixed 512MB.
There is also a very good tweak guide to the whole of XP HERE (http://www.tweakguides.com/XPTC.html)
Different people recommend different settings, so try a few and see which helps. :D
