I've basically been stuck on ideas for a few years >_>

Anyways, I need to come up with a design for my site, but how no ideas of how I should make it look. I know what I want. It'll be mainly a personal site. I'll have a portfolio, some graphical work, some photography, a forum, maybe a section for me to rant. I want it to be shiny and techy with silvers and blues. I just have no idea how I want to form it. You guys have any ideas?

Even if you could just come up with like a rough template and description that'd be great, and I could probably take it from there.

Do you have a list of two or three sites you like?

I know this is heresy, but I've always liked the 'smoothness' of Apple's site.
Interesting your color scheme, because that's exactly what I would go for: 'shiny and techy with silvers and blues'.

Apple might be good to look at, though perhaps less glassy

I've made multiple designs over the past years, here's one of them, which incorporates some of what I want to see (http://codeinsurrection.com/sitetest).

Any ideas for the format of the layout? Like, how everything should be positioned, and the shape of it all.

Oh, that video. I thought you meant this video (http://codeinsurrection.com/ghost/E32004Ghost.avi) at first, since it used to be on the main page. Anyways, that's a cinematic from Starcraft. I think it's from Brood War. All the way from back in 1998. That structure in the video is what my case is going to be based around.

I had some inspiration today. As I watched the blue light on my Wii go on, and looked at the A button, I started to get ideas.

So I went and screwed around and made something to try to focus my ideas.

I'll work on it more tomorrow though.

Edit: It's now tomorrow, and I'm on the computer at work. What I made sure looks a lot different on this computer. Some lines stand out more, while the shiny glass inside I can't see at all.

DaJe,

This is exactly what my next project is about. Building cool websites.

www.WebsiteMech.com

I would recommend you look into Joomla. It's a great way to build a cool site in no time. Most web hosts offer it as a free add on through their control panel.

There are like a thousand skins for Joomla. I think you'd like it. I base my sites off of Joomla. I think it looks wicked and works awesome. You can skin the different aspects of your site with it so it all melds together. Really cool stuff.

VBullettin does the same thing but bases around the forum mostly. Joomla bases around the portal (frontpage) of the site. V bulletin is around 160$ I think. Joomla is free. VBulletin is more secure so if you have like a million page hits a day like TBCS it's better. But for a first site Joomla is the way to go. It's also a great way to learn web design.

Eclecticos,

Who's site is that? That template is pretty cool.

Not to go off topic but:

Dude, what's the trailer from? In the bottom left corner it said Xelnaga. I did a google search which came up with Starcraft 2: Shadow of the Xel'Naga. Google Search (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=xelnaga+2)

What game was that? Starcraft 2

What the hell happens after the big boom?? It goes back to the center where that the explosion started. It was just one guy standing there and looking around. The camera panned out to show the planet with the sun behind it.
