I want to build a case mod to keep my computer cool and I want to use wood but I think it acts as an insulator.
is this true? also what type of wood is best to use? should I put some kind of finish on it to stop it obsorbing heat.

cheers

It's true that wood insulates heat pretty well, but that shouldn't be a problem as long as you design your case to ventilate well. As for the type of wood, you can use just about any type you want. I don't think that the properties of the wood will affect your computer much at all. Sorry I can't give you more here, start drawing up some plans and you'll get more input.
