Yeah, I like to play Battlefield 2. I like to play battlefield 2 too much. I have 768MB of 2700 memory. Does anyone know if buying more would provide a significant boost to the FPS in battlefield 2 and maybe let me play with higher settings? I have a 6600GT, rather old but ok gigabyte MOBO (agp 8x and no dual channel). Decent but old western digital HD. 1.8Ghz AMD athlon XP Barton. 350Watt PSU. Windows XP.

So what should I buy? I have $80 (maybe $100).

well your CPU is holding you back big time, so adding RAM wont help that much

I don't really see the point of buying a better althon XP. Everything is going to dual core 64 bit and PCIe. I'm saving my money to upgrade everything. But even if I went out and bought a new Athlon XP that was say 2.4 Ghz, would I notice a tremendous difference in Battlefield 2?

After asking myself these kind of questions, I arrive at the conclusion that I should just save my money and upgrade to a 1.5 grand PC (built by myself).

thats good thinking. at this point in time, there is no point in upgrading socket A rig. save your money, and get a brand new rig when you think the time is right

Probably going to be past this time next year, most likely when Longhorn comes out. Then there'll be a bunch of cool stuff out and I'll have the money to buy it.

Dell= evil. And Pentium 6? Did you like, use a time machine to get that deal? Could I borrow it please?

I read on torrentspy (not that i use it or anything >_>) that K7's are officially done with. So you might be able to find one now on the cheap.

512 Megs, and you don't get any stuttering? I can only assume you have a high-RPM hard drive.
