ok i know this is WAY out on a limb.. but if you can get a way to get a smartcar's turbocharger to work on a PC that would be badass.

I works it is the stock turbo charger from a Mitsubishi Eclipse. It is very loud and therefore not very practical.
It gets a mention by Crimson Sky in his book.Maximum PC Guide to Extreme PC Mods. It was made by Mark Purney.

What are you gonna do. . Put a motor on there and use it as a fan?
I guess you would have to. a PC with superfast Intake and Exhaust.
It's gonna blow the chips off your Mobo Lol.
It actually kinda makes since the faster the air, the cooler the air.
Good luck figuring out how to do it.

Would yu set that up the same way they have it in that picture? You can't use an actual gas engine. You would have to do something like they have otherwise you are just going to blow warm air into the pc, wether it's moving fast or not. Maybe I just missed something or read it wrong.

looks like he has an electric motor connected to the turbine. it's different but a HUGE waste of money IMO. Maybe something cool for a speed shop or something but pointless for a home pc.
it'd be cool if he put a gauge pod on it and modded computer gauges to look like theyre meant for a car. hell, maybe throw a holly on top with a 250mm fan inside the aircleaner. or maybe machine his 4 banger into a case!? THAT. would be cool.

I did see the electric motor, but still find it pointless and not worth the energy to do. The amount of work the electric motor has to do to spin that is not worth the money paid to do it. Yes I understand it was probably done just to do it, but still... If I were to use that big of an electric motor, I would just get a fan to mount on it since the motor will probably spin faster then the stock fan motor. Just my opinion though.

well if it sounds like a real turbo than thats just freaking awesome, but none the less a waste of money, and power.

If I remember right.. When you compress a gas, isn't the temperature of the gas increased? I guess it might be irrelevant, because on the flip side of that, when you let the gas expand the temperature drops. Oh well I thought I would mention it.

The air wouldn't actually get compressed. It would just act the same as a fan, which doesn't compress air.
For the air to be compressed it needs to not flow freely, but have a restriction so pressure can build up.

well i'm not 100% sure but i think its the air getting sucked in that makes the whistle sound and thats all i would want from that type of fan setup.

Pointles, sure, Unless you want your case mod to make history on the cover of several magazines, many articles, thousands of web pages and a nice full color picture in my book...which that one has ;)
