Ok bear with me, I have no idea where I should of made this topic.
I'm downloading 2 torrent files through Azureus 2.5. One is 8.36 GB and the other is 4.16 GB. I'm more concerned about the bigger file. I have Windows running with the basic visuals, pretty much basic everything. I'm gonna get the cable modem moved into my room, run a coaxial splitter from the wall so I can still have cable for my TV, and have the other coaxial line go into the modem. From the modem, a piece of CAT 6 wire will be connected into my computer. Hopefully it will be 1000 MB/sec instead of 54 with my wireless.
Is there any other possible way to help this torrent download faster?

torrent speeds also greatly depend on the ratio of "seeders" (people uploading) and "leechers" (people downloading).

Pretty much sums it up. ALWAYS look for torrents with a high count of seeders, and a low count of leechers. Seeders are either people providing the torrent, or people downloading who are also uploading (like any nice torrent downloader should). Leechers are bad people who only download and don't upload.

I know the vocabulary and the significance of seeders and leechers, I just have no choice with these 2 files; they're the only available copy. They both have a gig each downloaded, both estimating 4 days to download. I'm gonna be in the Pittsburgh Parts-A-Rama all of tomorrow, so I can't get this connection done til Saturday night. I was just wondering if there's any background processes I can terminate that may help, or something that I could do different with my network.

Other than playing around with your settings, there's not all that much you can do, other than hope and pray someone else decides to seed in addition to your source.

I agree, you are probably stuck waiting.

If you're unable to find a new torrent, then just stick with it. I had a 4.6gb torrent that took over a week to download (nonstop and force started in uTorrent, mind you).

Or a bootleg (NOT ILLEGAL, I've no desire to have that discussion) concert video.

The 8 gig file has 1-52, and the 4 gig has 53-78. Ech file is about 150-165 MB each, and there's 78 files.

The upload speed on the files is a lot higher than the download speed. If I limit the upload speed, will my download be faster?

Not necessarily. Sometimes, if you limit UL speed, it decreases your DL speed because not uploading is an asshole move. Like when people set their UL speed to 2kb/s, sometimes it won't let you download faster than 20kb/s. I'd just leave it alone and see what it does.
And also, I think right about now you're treading on very thin ice. Just a heads up.

if you limit your upload to 80% of your possible speed it should help.
Also search around to get a hack to let windows open up more TCP ports and im not too faimliar with azereus but try and find an option to allow more open and half open ports. Also make sure your ports are forwarded properly.
Hope this helps.

8.3 GB. I don't think one of my machine's harddrive is even that big. :)

From the modem, a piece of CAT 6 wire will be connected into my computer. Hopefully it will be 1000 MB/sec instead of 54 with my wireless.
A couple things to think about.
1. Maybe your service provider is different, but mine, the coax for the internet is a completely different coax than what the tv signal runs on. Maybe yours has both running through one cable...not sure. If yours is like mine you have two cables running into your room. One for the tv, and the other for the internet. Using a splitter wouldnt work in my case, because both signals arent running through the same cable. Like I said, maybe yours runs through one cable, but mine are two separate cables. Just something to check out before you go running the splitter setup.
2. You wont get a 1000 megabit/sec even for normal internet (not torrent) if you dont have a gigabit ethernet card. If you just have a normal ethernet card your gonna be limited to 100megabits. Because the standard ethernet card is a 10/100 card. If you have a gigabit card then go for it. Either way you should still see an improvement over your 54mb wireless card. Just maybe not the 1000
3. Like many said earlier, for torrents it really depends on how many people seeding, their upload rates, etc. Just let it sit. It sucks. I tend not to download anything big just because im impatient lmao. But ive gotten better about it 8)
Just some things to think about

Hopefully it will be 1000 MB/sec
Um, correct me if I'm wrong here, please do if I am, but I thought most cable internet providers only went up to 8Mbps? to hit the 1000Mbps you would need something like 2 OC12 connections @ approx 520Mbps each?? But I don't do a lot of looking at those things unless I'm shopping around for High speed internet.

ditto on that one. You'd need the whole shabang, router, card, CAT 6, to get the most out of a download like that.

I don't know what Sonic X is, but if it's copyrighted you are indeed treading thin ice.

I believe its a show based on Sonic the Hedgehog. But I'm not sure if its been licenced yet. From what I've been lead to understand as long as a show from another country has not been licenced for release in the US you're fine. But if it has Interpol can come after you. I've looked into some of those rules and regs for some Japanese show just in case. Cause I don't want to get busted for something I didn't know.
