Me and the wifey are sitting in the movie theater and I'm giving my normal thumbs up / thumbs down in to all the previews of the new movies.
Then the trailer came on for the new transformers movie. Ok, I fit right into this crowd I had a couple of transformers as a kid. I'm thinking this is gonna be dumb. I liked lots of things as a kid that turned into terrible movies. The punisher for one.
If you haven't seen the trailer here's a link. My wife looks over at me for my cordule thumbs up and I'm freaken breathless. I'm almost cried.
It's gonna be wicked cool....
Here's the Trailer (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4381475649168223690&q=tranformers+trailer&total=57&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0)

I can't wait to see this movie, it looks pretty friggen awesome! I hope it doesn't disappoint like so many movies do. I'm starting to get really sick of that. The previews are always SO much better, which I can understand, but I would like to see a movie that gives you the same experience as the previews did. Make the previews as cool as you want, just make sure the movie rocks too. Thats all I ask. ^_^
Talk about your flash backs, I just had a couple! I remember when I was younger I had all the toys and I watched the tv shows religiously. My favorite toy was a huge optimus prime that could (with great difficulty) "morph" into a tank, jet and of course the human form. That was years ago, I remember it cost my parents an arm and a leg at the time, but I was happiest kid alive. Man I wish I could find that toy.
Do you guys remember beast wars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beast_Wars) and beast machines (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beast_Machines)? That was the holy grail of all transformers if you ask me. I think I missed maybe 3 episodes out of the entire series. Man... 1995-2000, that doesn't seem that long ago at all! I keep forgetting its 2007. >< I must of been something like... 8 years old when beast wars first came out. oh and the pc game. (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/beastwarstransformers/images.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=gsimage&tag=images;img;1) lol oh man. I remember playing that game all the time. our computer could barely even play it, but I played it anyways. kind of crazy to think that my dad still has and USES that same machine. That was in 1998, its now 2007. I keep tellin him to upgrade but he insists that his computer is perfect for what he needs it for. whatev. lol

Dude, I remember beast wars. I thought it was so cool with the 3d animation. As far as I know I watched every episode. Here in WY they changed the time to watch it so I had to figure out the VCR that may dad couldn't get to record because it came on right when we had to leave for school. But I can't wait for this movie it looks awesome. I still have the original movie on VHS somewhere. Thinking of upgrading it to DVD on of these days.

I can't wait for the movie to come out. When I saw the trailer it reminded me of the transformers obseesion I had as a child, and then I wrote a huge blog on the life of Optimus Prime. here (http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=41813852&blogID=250681929&MyToken=30e3854f-093e-4847-9b3d-a0808c420e9b)
You guys are sooooo young.. Those aren't the true transformers. You're talking bout the ones from the late 90's. Who here remembers the ones from the mid 80's?
****... Now I'm feeling really old.

Not only am I right with ya Rick on remembering the REAL Transformers, but I'm also kicking myself in the ass for not treating my Optimus Prime with respect. One of his arms got busted off. Had I known how much he'd be worth today...I'd still have him--I think my parents donated all my Transformers to The Salvation Army about 10 years ago.
Oh man, the memories: I had a good collection of Autobots, and my best friend had a similar number of Decepticons. The battles we waged...

Actually, it's just a trick of the camera lens! :p
Edit: Or if you like--Well, the camera adds 20 lbs.
Thumper's on a roll, I can keep this up all night!
Never liked Transformers. I know, blasphemy. Big shock.
New movie. 4 words. Banded rebar plus skull.
No thank you.

I used to have all the little Lion action figures that transformed into one giant dude. I think it was Voltron.
Here are some little snapshots from the Movie:

Ok I got mixed emotions on this one. I grew up in the genration of g1 transformers. The original from the 80's. I still got all my toys and are in mint condition to boot. The movie looks good for what it is but I dont know if it will live up to par for some of the people that watched the show religiously. But I think it will be neat. I have already dug around know who is who in the movie and a good chunk of the story line. One thing that makes me happy is the voices. Frank Welker and Peter Cullen. Frank was the voice of megatron in the cartoon Peter was the voice of optimus pryme. From what I understand they are doing the voices of the new versions also. This make me happy. Also Peter Cullen has done voice of Eeyore on every winnie the poo cartoon. I always wondered why i liked Eeyore so much.

Berticus, I'm there with you. I grew up watching the g1 cartoon. Peter Cullen and Frank Welker will bring back mucho memories for me when I watch this movie.
As for the movie living up to our memories, nope. Not a chance. The movie is based off an "alternate timeline". Bah. bring back the original Bumblebee, Soundwave, Optimus, and Megatron and let them duke it out for 2 hours. That'll make you some money!

I still have all my transformers from when I was a kid, and that was in the 80's. Yes the Gobots were the cheaper knockoff version of the transformers. that will be the next movie to come out. LOL

Random Knowledge:
Those tanks are actually M60s. Most new movies don't have M1A1s in them because the military really doesn't like lending them out. The Marines are actually the laxest about letting Hollywood play with their gear.
That's why there are real M1A1s in War of the Worlds. If you get a chance to see that movie again. Listen to the giant monsters when they hatch and start up. That is actually the sound of a M1A1 starting up. The Lucas guys came out here to get sound for that movie and the Marines sent 4 tanks down to Hollywood to film the tanks on the streets and road scenes. The Army said no, but the Marines know a good publicity opportunity when they see it.

Yup.. that's Voltron. I was NUTZ for that show too. Again, mid 80's.

Isnt Hugo Weaving doing the voice of Megatron? I know Optimus voice is done by Peter Cullen. But pretty sure that Hugo is doing Megatron.

OK, the movie is going to be kick ass we all know that, but I'm surprised no one has asked the really important question yet.
Who's going to to build a Transforming Case?
 ...Crimson Sky maybe or a new up & comer?
Think of the possibilities. I know my head is spinning with ideas but I've got to finish my other mods before I start up another one.

Yes...this movie looks good. Man reading this brings back memories. Transformers, Go-Bots, G.I. Joe, Voltron, and my favorite Robotech. I remember that was the first time I've ever seen someone DIE in a kids cartoon.
Now it's just great to wake up and not have my joints ache and muscles to actually move. I try to live through my boys now....getting out all the 'old' toys and they think it's the best thing since sliced bread. They would love to play with my old toys then ones that make noise and have all the fancy lights.
What's the line? Autobots, roll out!
A real American Hero.
I was a TMNT & GI Joe fan when I was young. I also loved legos and army men and dirt.
I became aware of my existance in 87 and useful in my existance around 90.
Banded rebar is called the 'sad stick' in hard body training. It sucks. Oh lord, does it suck.

I"ve already got plans laid out for one, but just trying to figure out all the details and what case to use first. Deffinite incorporation of motorization.

I had an idea for the optimus case. it was more of the paint job to look like optimus and have digital temp gauges where the windshield was. but i dropped it as a couldnt find a case that was proportional. I have started anew project that has been done aorund here but not like this. Details in a new thread soon

I was barely born in the 80's!! I grew up in the land of G2 Transformers, G.I.Joes, and KrissKross Kids (music not TV)..

KrissKross--weren't they the two teenage rappers that were wearing their pants bass ackwards?

I was thinking more like using a huge ass car model a lot like the ones you've already seen turned into a computer before but this one would of course it have to transform into a robot similar to one of the Transformers with just a push of a button. For starters I was thinking of having the windshield as a LCD screen and have the keyboard shoot out from underneath the hood or something. Of coarse this would be a complete electrical nightmare but just imagine if someone really took the time to build one. Hell whenever I finish my Monitor Mod and BareBone Case I just might take on this project for myself but that won't be for another couple of years and by then the novelty might were off.
