After slapping together another PC from parts tonight, I'm wondering how many PCs (including laptops) you have.
I currently have 4.
From slowest to fastest:
Toshiba lappy with a 1Ghz Celeron processor
Linux Box with AMD Athlon XP2000+ @1.7Ghz
Media PC with 3.06Ghz Celeron D
Gaming PC with an E6600 Core 2 Duo at the stock 2.4Ghz

My desk is getting out of hand....

Good question - actually 4 but three are in pieces. With a couple of extra pieces that would jump to about 5 though. I'm a hoarder of old bits.

From worst upwards:
Compac P1 server 133MHz (very very old) - Redhat Linux
Tiny P3 machine ??? MHz (got a big overclock on it when I was bored and its doesn't wholly work now...) - Win 98
AMD sempron 2400+ (the other components are much better and its well tweaked - the one I use) - Fedora/ XP
Dual Athlon MP 2600+ server - not sure yet... I'm leaning towards Fedora though

5 at the moment, 3 of which work.

Two computers hooked up at the computer desk, even though only one gets used on a regular basis, one waiting to get modded and donated to the local Highway Patrol Museum, my PIII File server that is currently in pieces (need to cut up the filing cabinet so I can get it up and running again) and a P4 HP Pavilion that, once I get a new mobo for, will reside in the kitchen.

And I'm in the market for a lappy. Just don't know when I'll get it.

Um...
I think I have about 15+ :p last time I tried to count them. Not counting the two that belong to my parent (One will become mine).
Most are really old and a few are partially assembled. Then I have a few extra cases lying around as well. I have a lot of old Macintosh machine I collected when I was an uber geek in Middle School. I kinda got over that now and haven't touched amost of them in a few years.

Well we have my large rig that I use for gaming(do a search for Dominion and you will see it), my wifes 2.6 p4, the 2.8 p4 server i am building for a small server, a mac g3 B&W 400mhz, and last a mac g3 pismo laptop. I guess 5 total if you count the macs.

P.S. dont shoot me or hate me for owning macs

I have enough. I don't have an official count anymore, nor do I care to. I have 3 running 24/7.
I have a computer room with at least 12 cases with computers in them. Most are under 1ghz.

Yikes, what are you electric bills like?

Alright, let me count 'em up. (Oldest to newest).

1. Compaq lappy. P1 something, 32Mb RAM, unbootable Win95.
2. Sister's HP running Celeron 733Mhz, 192Mb RAM, 30Gb HDD, Xubuntu.
3. Dad's work computer. HP (same as sister's) but with a K-6, 15Gb HDD, not sure about the OS. Won't let me have it because it has business docs that he doesn't want erased.
4. Mom's computer. HP, P4 3Ghz, 1Gb RAM, 200Gb HDD.
5. My computer. ...Just check my sig.
6. CS:Server (though not put together yet). Via C3 1Ghz, 512Mb RAM, 9Gb HDD (lol).

And my dad's work laptop. So, 7? Plus some dead parts, cases, etc.

Yikes, what are you electric bills like?

Surprisingly low. 3 pc's aren't that bad. The worst is by far my gaming rig. Watercooled and on all day, every day. Still, this isn't even the ballpark of A/C, dishwasher, dryer, etc.

I live alone in a 3 bedroom house. I use around 80-150 bucks of electric every month. If I wasn't renting it would be less because I would have removed all the carpet(replaced with tile in the rooms and hardwood in the house) and insulated the heating/cooling ducts in the crawlspace. Oh well. Someday. Then again, I'm still debating between a new vehicle or building a monster fileserver and getting a plasma. I haven't decided. I will probably go with vehicle.

I've always been a nut about keeping machines cool. The cooler they are, the less thermal wear they sustain over the years. It's the reason my 750mhz Athlon Slot A is still running like a champ. And part of the reason I'm running a WC rig.

So he named them... thats kind of creepy if you ask me. :p

I'll be naming this laptop once it gets back from Commando's workshop of DOOM. But for now, its name is just Dell Inspiron 9200. ^_^

Thats right... I gotta think of a name for my PC still. Hmmm.

oh yea. btw. I have four pc's. one laptop, three desktops (all in pieces). Its just my luck that their parts aren't compatible with eachother. ><

Coldrocket: Ubuntu machine
Zephyr: P4 Gaming rig
Omega: K7 Gaming Rig
Tanto: P3 Server
Damascus: Compaq Laptop

I only really use Zephyr and Omega, however (Omega is what I call the whole computer, the case has been called "Supernova" before)

EDIT: After I get my newer Compaq laptop and drop a 180gb HD in it I'll probably see about getting it painted in some sort of desert camo and naming it Rommel (After the German leader dude of the Nazi Afrika Corps).

Those are video/audio editing PC's and everyday computers without mods. You need to name computers when you use them on a network (Duh), or wrangle more than a few at a time in a household. It's also bad luck not to name them ;)

Kinda a trick question. I have 3 That are up and running all the time Pentium D 960 3.6GHz, Pentium D 945 3.4Ghz, and a P4 3.2ghz all have 1 or 2 gigs of ram, PNY 7300gt 256MB Video Cards, and 250GB SATA Hard Drives.

So Three.

I have all kinds of parts in my locker HD's, Processors, RAM, Mobos . .some are slightly outdated, I could easily just slap another puter togethor, but more than 3 is a little unessissary for me myself and I.

I just threw out some CRT Monitors, P3's and ancient mobos, and memory out the other day someone picked them up like 2 minutes after I took it out to the trash.

Macbook, 1.83 ghz, 60gb hdd, 512 ram
HP, AMD 64 3400, 1.5 ram, 160gb hdd, geforce 5500
Gaming Rig- AMD X2 4600, 2gb kingston ram, 100gb hdd, geforce 8800 gts

I name mine also,

My main rig: Buell
Wife's system; QueenBee
Dell laptop: HellTop
Dual P3 rig; Mediablaster
Sgi converted rig; 540Realized

Gets to be a habit to name a system while installing it, both for network names and reference.

When at SGI, the Sys-admin in charge of a particular project got to name the servers during install. Most would pick relevant names and group them. Much like one sys-admin that named a bunch of systems after the South Park characters (and yes Kenny did keep dying...), or one that named them after river's. My first Cluster name? Yep, ClusterF**k1-4 yeah I know, creative...

My names are ultimately less interesting or unique.
nil8-tv, nil8-fserv,nil8-psrv,nil8-lj4050,nil8-linx, etc etc

It gives just enough info that if anyone hopped on my network they would instantly know exactly what my boxes/network devices are there for. In retrospect, I should probably stop doing that.

This is just the assembled ones...

2 AST's with 486's (I do believe that puts me in the lead of slowest computer, at least those that have been posted...)
1 HP Vectra with a P1
1 mini-ass computer with a "IDT Winchip C6" (at 200 mhz!)
1 with a K6 200 or 233
1 compaq p3 laptop (Mobility Charles, see worklogs)
1 compaq mobile duron laptop (mom's)
1 with a Athlon XP 1600 (mom's)
1 with a Sempron 2600 754 (dad's)
1 with a Sempron 2800 and DFI Lanparty NFII (my fiddle machine  )
my main rig in my sig

I've got two friends comps to work on, as well.

11. 13 if you count friends.

If you don't count the old one in it's box, with no RAM or HDD. (cannabalised (sp.))
And if you don't count the two ancient bricks^H^H^H^H^H^H 'laptops' in the loft.

Pumpkin, They're even slower than yours.
Both have 640KB RAM, and 4.77MHz 8088s.
No hard drives, just good old 3.5" 720K diskettes.

I've only got three. I feel so left out.

My machine:

Shuttle XPS
3.0 ghz Pent D
2 Gig Ram
GeForce 7600gs

The wife's machine.

Shuttle XPS
3.2 Ghz Pentium 4
1gig o ram
cheap vid card Gforce ? or somthing

And the last one is my old computer which acts as my little joystick table for playing BF2142. I've got my joystick strapped to it. It's great because it's heavy enough to keep from moving around.

3 in the house, 2 are mine.

2 Dell Dimension 2400s
Celeron 2.4Ghz w/ 256 RAM and on board video
and a Dell Inspiron 8500.

the Dells are the reason behind 3x NES. I must have GAMES!!
the 8500 isn't to bad. spent some $$ giving it a few upgrades from stock (bluetooth internal card, internal WiFi. Needs more RAM i think anyway.)

The wife wouldn't let me get the next Dell up that had more RAM and a AGP graphics card.

HP Compaq Presario dual core laptop running ubuntu 8 also for everything (in bed haha)

HP Vectra PIII running ubuntu 7 (for guests ...."sure you can check your emails ... I'll just turn on a computer for you")

I have five or six other working machines which are all mod projects, except I'm not modding at the moment.

And I just put a bid in on 30 Pentium III's on ebay to build a cluster.

... so three in use but I own .. maybe nine working machines. Could be 39 next week.

Gaming rig: 3500+ AM2/x1950Pro/2GB RAM/WinXP
Backup machine: 3200+ Athlon/dead video card (swapping in an old Radeon 9250)/1GB/WinXP
Former backup machine, being borrowed by my mum: 1.0 Athlon/gF2MX/256MB/Win2000
Mum's computer-to-be (together but finicky): 1.1 Athlon/basic AGP card (either a Voodoo4 or TNT2/Rage 128 )/256MB (maybe more)/Win2000
Tiny HP Pavilion (current project): P3-750/onboard i810/256MB
Former FedoraCore 2 machine: Athlon 850/TNT2 Vanta/256MB
Probable future firewall machine: PPro-200@233/PCI video/64MB

The latter three machines are in various states of disassembly for now. I have several others - a K5-166 AT box I'll likely never use, three P3s (two 733s and a 667) that I can't get rid of the BIOS password on... the list goes on. I don't even want to get into all the old parts I have...
