I was touring arround youtube watching some videos and i came accross this one of a guy on an affrican safari. theres some lions eating whatever they just killed and he decides to get out of the car and shoot some video. you all know where this is going im sure. he gets killed and eaten right on camera. i wont post the link here as it may be too graphic for some people. Now here is something.. we all seen these videos.. some stupid person gets mauled or chewed on or attacked in some fassion by an animal. my question is why. why do they get out of the car. what in the world would make someone think that this could be anything but a really bad idea. really if you think about it humans are just another animal. other animals have natural defenses. horns claws teeth spikes the ability to sting or run fast or be poisonus. what do we have.. well none of those things. so i guess its our brain thats our best natural defence and weapon is our ability to look at a situation, evaluate what to do, and then do it. people feel bad for the guy that got eaten by the lion, but i say hes doing us a favor and .. trimming the herd so to speak. let me know what you all think of this. yes i know im a little twisted but bare with me here

Natural Selection.

Heh heh, good one, lol. It is sad to see though...

Sorry to the mods about my earlier post, yeah, it was kinda off wasn't it, I'll refrain from that in the future. Sorry.

I read a great quote once, and it holds true.

"The gene pool could use a little chlorine."

I used to get the annual Darwin's Awards email and this guy would have been in the top 3 for the year for sure.

Reminds me of a joke about running the fastest, but when chased by a lion or tiger, you only need to be faster than one person...

[QUOTE=Airbozo;111353]I used to get the annual Darwin's Awards email and this guy would have been in the top 3 for the year for sure.[QUOTE]

no deal i think he had his kids and wife in the car. cant get an award if you reproduce. i totaly think he should get an honorable mention though.

dont they tell you specificly to not get out of the car for any reason? i was pretty sure they do. anyways my big deal here is that we all seen diffrent movies where something like this happens. why cant we just leave other animals the heck alone. its one thing if the lion pulled him out of the car.. then i would feel bad, but common... its a f*#&ing lion what are ya doing buddy!!

Call me biased, but being ignorant deserves punishment. Sometimes that punishment is death. Sometimes it's a burn, broken bone, or death of someone you care about.

This is just another situation of ignorance, and all we can do is laugh. Laugh because we HOPE we're not that dumb in that situation, even though, deep down, we all know we have the ability to be. Laughter is the direct result of pain and I think I'm getting a little deeper than this thread is meant to go...

the famous "Buffalo Theory" (also from Cheers):

Well you see, Norm, it's like this; a herd of buffalo can only move as
fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the
slowest and the weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This
natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general
speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular
killing of the weakest members.

In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the
slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol
kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest
brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates
the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient
machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few
beers.

Luke, I love it!

I like this one, from the Darwin Awards site.
"The tree of life is self pruning."
or this one:
"Where evolution hits the pavement."
(Or in the case of another thread here, the train. )

Oh ya thats right there was that thread about the stupid chick and the train. i nearly forgot about that. now that you mention it they both tap into the same level of inteligence. where DO we get these people from.. i mean seriously. does anyone else take offence that they are breathing air you could use, or eating food that you could be eating instead of wasting it on people that clearly lack the mental capacity to make very simple yet ciritcal decisions. lets hope these people dont have a licence to drive. if they cant figure out that i lion can kill and eat you, or that a train cant and wont stop for you if your sitting on the track, i would be truly petrified to see what these people could do behind the wheel. these are the same people all these retarded safety labels are made for people. ya you know the ones im talking about. the on on your toaster that says do not opperate in shower .. you know the labels im talkin about. its these kind of people that sue over the really retarded stuff that is their own fault. companies settle for big money and that money come out of our pocket when we buy stuff. i dont mean to get any of you enraged or nothng, and im not suggesting that you actively go out looking for stupid people to distroy, but maybe we shoud just take the safety labes off and just let nature take its course. rant rant rant

Not at the very least.
I'm glad those people are there.
It isn't your job (or mine) to 'save' the world.
So, just let them be stupid/dumb/dim.

It just easier for you to climb to the top with *that* type of competition.

Case in point: The guy that got eaten by a lion...
Well, probably, his girlfriend got very sad.
BUT!
The guy that was hittin' on his girlfriend, was probably very glad.
Now it's easier for him.

Lions... the cure for relationships.

yes i agree its not our job to save the world, but somehow we feel the need to protect them from them self. is that really our job? i dont think your going to say yes. i suppose your right about it being pretty easy compatition though. and i will remember that lion bit the next time im breakin up with someone. lol its over chick... I consider stupid people to be a form of entertainment. Nothing like Dinner and a show...

If people are dumb enough to get cut by the sharp corners of life, then let them. Some of them will learn, some of them won't.

Besides, the more stupid people, the smarter you seem. If you raised the intelligence, people might actually think for themselves, and that's when society stops working properly. There will always be more followers than leaders and when the followers aren't being told something to do, they do either nothing or nothing good.

Actually, makes sense... I've just recently come to see myself as the proud person I am, I don't want any competition, at least not too much of it, as I would be "pushed under" so to say. Society would pretty much go into turmoil and it's bad enough as it is, lol. Sad thing is I sometimes see myself as stupid but maybe that can work to my advantage by me having the lesson learned stuck in my head for a while and then stay there after I start feeling better about the whole thing, like when you clamp a couple boards together to let the glue dry, pretty much the same thing.

well there is a big diffrence between makeing a mistake like glueing something accidently wrong or cutting too much to little or too deep. thats ok i have no quams about that kind of thing. thats not really stupidity thats just a minor misjudgement. long as nobody gets seriously hurt of course. but i wouldent compare your mistake to the people were talking about dude. thats unfair to you, and unfair to them too. you would be bringing up the avrage inteligence score as well as life expectancy of the entire catigory.

so to sum up. mistakes ok. Life threateningly stupid judgement resulting in serious bodily harm or death.. not so ok (pretty entertaining though)

GO LIONS!!
