I have a lot of old computers and have been meaning to start a thread that shows me taking them apart. I'll post them all here.
First up, the Tandy 128K Color Computer (CoCo) 3 from 1986!

Aww man, that is cool. I want me a wall of mobo's. When I have my own house in the future I'll have to do something similar, I have plans for the house I want built and I'm gonna do my best to make them happen.
But yeah, I had no clue that Tandy's are real. I guess H*R isn't all fictional, now is it? lol

Here's the Franklin Ace 1000. If you don't remember them it's because this computer is an exact clone of the Apple II Plus. Apple then sued, putting Franklin out of business. It was released back in 1982 and costs: $1350.00!! The CPU was MOS 6502, 1.0 MHz and it had 64K of RAM.

Here's the first shot of the inyards.

Here's the PSU connection

The PSU itself.

And a size comparison for you.

Looking under the keyboard and at the speaker.
http://img374.imageshack.us/img374/8991/takeapart06zh8.jpg
The reset button is on the front left under the keyboard.
http://img374.imageshack.us/img374/8786/takeapart07vi3.jpg
The top of the case frame pivots off of the front.

The underside of the keyboard (left)

This is my favorite mobo of all time. It clearly shows what a single layer PCB is like. AMAZING.
http://img68.imageshack.us/img68/253/takeapart10th7.jpg
And the bottom has tons of sharp pins.
http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/383/takeapart11ud7.jpg
The keyboard detached.
http://img68.imageshack.us/img68/7283/takeapart12qn6.jpg
And finally the empty case...

it still boggles my mind beyond belief how someone(obviously more than 1) came up what parts to put in and where to put them to make a pc or for that matter any electronics. here is my oldest pc i think, its a laptop.
i will take pictures on monday as my dad took the camera.

Hey! I used to use one of those at work. Compaq 386 IIRC...
I'd call it a portable rather than a laptop though.
I have an Epson 286 still in the car boot, which one day I intend to mod.
I might just open her up and take some photos for this thread.
More recently (like 10 years ago) I was using one of these:

Last month I decided to go to Boston, and went to the Museum of Science. There was a whole section with computer history. I took pictures of all of it. There was even an old hard drive platter that was like bigger than me. I should post them.

You'd better!
Yeah, but the reason I haven't is the same reason I haven't posted the pictures I took of the computer parts or the burning CD. I just don't feel like going through them and deleting and cropping and making thumbnails and typing descriptions.
Alright, so I decided to just upload all of them. I don't really feel like going through all of them and captioning and [img]ing and all of that right now, so I'll just link you guys to the directory. I was ****ing tired when I took these though, so some were blurry and whatnot as I was not fully conscious when doing this. I actually left the museum early because I was too out of reality.
But anyways, here you go

OK, I expect to see that modded into a modern gaming rig sometime soon :) Did someone say LAN box? Or perhaps media server?

If memory serves me well, inside that is a 386 AT motherboard. It probably wouldn't be that hard to fit in a modern one.
That mono screen would have to go though.
