Hi Guys,

I had a quick question. I recently got a new PC and I'd like to make sure it's cooled properly. It's running a quad core w/ a 8800GTX so it puts out a decent amount of heat.

I'm using a CM Stacker case:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119122

That has a front, rear, top fan slot as well as 4 on each side. Currently I'm using the front, rear and top fans only. I do not plan on overclocking my CPU at all, only maybe my VCard and only by a small amount.

My question(s): Are the fans I use now suffecient to safely and reliably cool my system through long periods of gaming?

If not, how many would you reccomend, and which positioning would I use in the side case slots.

Thanks a ton guys:glasses:

Welcome to the boards.
Basically if it's moving all the air through the case quickly, that's all you can do. Anymore depends on ambient temperatures for what temp your case will be at.
I would probably put one side fan in at least which is aimed at the video card to make sure it gets air flow, as the fans you are using might not get enough airflow around it.

This monitors your system temperature (note - it may not be as accurite as the BIOS temps but it will give you a fair idea) among other things. Download it and run your computer to see how hot it gets. It it gets too hot (refer to technical data but as a rule below 60*C is safe and below 40 is good) then you need more cooling.

It will get hotter under stress. Use a stress tester to measure this. Prime95 (http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft.htm) is good for the cpu, games are good for graphics.

Well, last night I ran Stalker at Max Settings, HTTPTrack and Outlook together and the CPU peaked @ 41 and the rest just below... Guess I am safe
