Look what I found "Treasure"! Someone threw this away.
I picked it up and now it's my new Project :)
I'm going to turn it into a reservoir.

First things First . .Time to test all the parts, and see why it was thrown away.

*Kool Aid Voice* Oh yea! *Kool Aid Voice*
That would be a sweet reservoir! Throw in some UV reactive LED's and UV reactive coolant and you have the most awesome-ist reservoir/night light EVER.
What are the dimensions of that thing? Looking at it again... it looks freaking ginormous! Is that just a trick of the camera or is it actually pretty big?
Hmmm, maybe you could even put a pump in the base there? ...or two? Then you could put a wall down the middle and have two different colored coolants! *cough* orange and blue *cough* ;)
Don't forget to separate the in and out lines with either a wall or some distance so your not sucking in and using the same coolant over and over. Hmmm, you could probably even run a clear tube up to the top from the INSIDE if you wanted too. I think the other way would look better though.
lol man, just looking at that thing is giving me a typhoon of a brain storm!
Looks like plexi.. looks like decently think plexi... ETCHING? Oh yea, etching. Even if you don't know how to, it would still be cool if you take your time and go very slow. Well not too slow, you don't want to etch your way right through! lol
But no really, some sort of etching design, ANY sort of etching design would really light that baby up!
btw, I'll still be totally happy if you just end up filling it with UV coolant and adding UV LED's. It would make for a bitchin lamp. :p
Great find!! +rep for the idea! ...you got another one of those coming if you actually do it. ;)

It already has a pump in the base, It will likely need to be replaced. It was a bubble light.
Its 20" Tall - 9"x9"x9"
Looks like plexi.. looks like decently think plexi... ETCHING. Oh yea, etching.
You Know it. . Yeeeauhaa. .
I'm gonna etch the TBCS Logo on there.

Whats the news on this Eclect? Do you still plan on doing this project or did you give up on it?

Haha. . Funny you should ask. I Took it apart the bubble lamp and the pump was burned out.
So I get my Compressor out. . Fill the reservoir with water to make sure it doesn't leak. No leaks thank God.
Well I get the bright idea hook the hose up to my compressor. . Bad Idea! "Old Faithful" All over my desk I'm soaking it all up now. .
It blasted all the water out all over . .luckily I had removed all electronics from my desk.
Bubble. . Bubble. . Big Bubble . .Shwwwosh. . I'm Soaked :D

I filled it with less water this time. Looks preddy Kewl.
I just filled it back up with water Luckily the pressure didn't compromise the seal.
I still have to get another pump, hoses, hose fittings and some water blocks.
I forgot all about it last time I went shopping for Moddin' Goodies.
I have to replace the bubble filter and circle.
I got some Plexi and some LoctiteŽ No More Leaks Sealant
I'll just thread some fittings into the plexi that and hope the seal holds.
The Motor for the rotating color wheel works so I will have a color changing reservoir water

LOL
Thats good stuff, I would of probably made the same mistake. ^_^
So are you still going with the reservoir idea or are you just going to restore it as a bubble lamp? or maybe a combo of the two? Hmmm, a bubble lamp reservoir?
Those bubbles look pretty neat! I wonder how much these things go for? Maybe I'll take a look around and see what I can find. Man, I wish my neighbors didn't take all their junk to the dump instead of just leaving on the side of the street. Maybe then I could find some goodies!

No. . It will be a reservoir for the Case in the bottom left hand corner.
Hummn. . Thats an Idea . .if i kept the draw from the pump below the bubbles . .I don't think it would hurt.

you can buy a fish pump pretty cheap since its less than a gallon on water. (i would guess 5-10 at the most) and get a airstone for finer bubbles, like this

I'm thinking about using it as a center piece on a Mayan Temple Mod,
Seriously :)

That's a great find! It could be used in so many different genres of cases: Mayan temple, futuristic starship, etc etc. It'd look awesome. I really like the bubbles.
If you're going to use the rotating colour wheel, why don't you use colour changing LEDs to make them fade into eachother and make the colour changes more subtle? I reckon it'd make it look a lot more slick.

I went ahead and bought the wood I will need to build the Mayan Temple.
I have several different designs in mind and simply need to choose one.
Here are some pictures to give ya'll an idea of what it will look like.

A possible addition.

I'm going to sketch the design out, and Report back with a devised plan of action.

The second temple looks good and quite simple to construct. The res on top would look great.

The res on top would look great.
I was thinking I'd sink it down to level 3 so it doesn't look odd towering on the top.
I will have a chance to do some detailed work, and get my paint brushes and acrylic out.
I got a Huge sheet of thin plywood. . 1 ply I guess, Smells Great.
Though I'm having second thoughts about it being the right material. . I kinda wanted to do some styrene scribing.
I will just have to find bigger sheets if i plan to use it. All they had at the Hobby shop were little tiny 8x6 pieces and Strips. .
Anyone else wanna do one? We could have a Mayan Mod Build Off. :D

I would go with the whole sinking it down a few levels, you're right it would be a bit over powering.
And for materials I'd use plywood because you can spray an undercoat on it rather than hand paint it to save time. polystyrene will crumble when sprayed with can paint.
From the modding list, usplastics!
40x72 styrene sheets (http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=usplastic&category%5Fname=76&product%5Fid=3008)
I bought 3 sheets a few weeks back. Good stuff!

Much Appreciated! I'll take that into consideration.
I made another trip to Home Depot today
. .got more supplies I may or may not need. :)
To many Ideas. .I have 30 tabs open Looking at all these different Mayan Temples.
If anyone can find a Great model of a Mayan Temple
. .Feel free to PM it my way.
I'm gutting the Compaq Evo desktop case I'm going to use for the foundation.

This thing was a pain to clean out. All kinds of hex screws and lip rivets.

Took two Hours. . So your going to have to put up with another picture :D

So you're gonna purposely have bubbles in your WC setup?
I figure as long as the draw from the pump is below the bubbles it won't suck them in.
I'm going to get the fittings and a new pump this weekend I'll see how it works out.
Will look something like this. Except, it will have 3 equal sides Instead of Four.

I found a good guide to building it
. .or atleast a similar build I can get some ideas from Here (http://www.umiacs.umd.edu/~kuijt/dba105/Castillo/Castillo.html).
The Magnetosphere should be complete by the end of the month just waiting on parts. I'm glad you like it.
