In this mod I just collect spareparts, used hardware and custom made things, so excuse me for not useing the newest hardware.

The black box is supposed to be as little, simpel, and silent as possible.
I fancy the black macbook, so the computer is going to have rounded corners, painted balck with deep clearcoat and no shiny fangrill.
And it's of course going to be watercooled.

I spend 2 hours skecthing up the computerpart and placing them in the most compact way. The result: 33cm x 27cm x 13 cm that's about the size of a atx board, and here it is.

Can the magneticfield in the PSU effect the chips on the mainboard? and how do you like my reservoir with intergrated HDDcooler?

If the hdd is set inside the res. i take it you'd be usig a non-conductive fluid. But no matter what fluid you use there would be build up on the electrical contact points of the hdd. It's be much easier just to seperate the two imo, unless the hdd is not just set inside the resevoir, then just ignore me :)

I been thinking something similar myself, though with watercooling your project would look great!

The pic isn't loading for me but from what robe said, you put the HDD in the res?
Sorry, HDDs don't work in liquid; the need air.

I think he means the res has a spot for the HDD is the res casing itself, not actually in the fluid. That way the res full of cool liquid helps cool the HDD by contact between the HDD itself and the res casing.

Nice idea, seems good for space saving, how would you make the res?

That's actually quite innovative. The only problem I see with this is how well does plexiglass conduct heat... Possibly use a piece of metal as one side of the res but I'm not sure how to glue plexi to steel....

(BTW, I can see the pic now)

no need to glue.

The res is going to be build in i rawprint, copper on one side, fibermatrial that smell when cut on the other, it's stong, thin, copper-shiny, heat resistant and best of all cheap, about 4$ squaremeter. There is going to be a plexiglass window on top, which is bolted on with at rubber list between.

I've started building an alu-frame, mostly because I need the computer for LAN soon, but also because I think that it is much nicer than bolting things directly it to the kabi. I'll post pictures soon.

Wouldn't that pose a problem if you are trying to attract heat to it?

sry, I mean't the material doesn't melt within temperatur i have facilities to create, it can be welded.
